Too Dark

Sorry!
Sorry!!!

It was too dark when I got home from work to take a photo of the car but first thing in the morning I promise I will.

I have been making pincushions at work.

I hope all that are going to the weekend workshop have a great time.

DH has finished the Aquaponics System today and has already planted some plants.
That is why I was late home. I had to go to  the nursery to get more plants.
I will post pictures tomorrow.

I am being lazy tonight too.
No sewing.

The girls layed 12 eggs today.
We have only 5 babies left.
Fingers crossed that they go alright.

Until Next Time.

Lazy

Oops. I forgot to take a photo of the car.
Sorry!
Tomorrow I promise.

Busy at work making samples today.

I am being lazy tonight and have only been watching T.V.
And reading a book.
So no sewing tonight.

We have had trouble with the babies.
There were 6 this morning when I checked before I went to work and 2 that had just hatched.
Those 2 don't look to good.
And 1 of the 6 died.
I don't know if the shells on the eggs being to hard has anything to do with it.
We have to give them a hard wack when we crack them for cooking.
Hopefully our hen has more luck because we are not.

The girls layed 15 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

We Feel So Flash

Guess what?

Today we bought a new car.

It has been over 10 years since we had a new car .
I will take a photo tomorrow.
It got to late to take one today.
It will take a while to get used to what all the knobs and buttons do though.

DH and I drove Zac to town for his drum lesson tonight.
He wants a double kick pedal now !
Maybe for Christmas.

Nothing much else of note to report.

No sewing done today.

The girls layed 15 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

Some New Additions

The next 5 blocks are done.
1 row down 10 to go.

The first block in the next lot of 10.

I would have done more but my Brother came over for a visit with Grandma and to get his hair cut.
So cups of tea and biscuits it was.
The boys played Nerf Guns inside as Zac doesn't like to loose his bullets outside.
And they also played on the fernery roof that the trampoline leans against and had fun jumping off , much to Grandmas dismay.

More extras to add to my Scrappy Double Irish Chain.
I will start sewing them into 4 patches next.

Mother Cat curled up at my feet.
She isn't the friendliest of cats, but it was a bit chilly outside last night and she decided to sit next to me.
So i-phone in hand I took her picture.
All the cats still have their Winter coats so she looks nice and fluffy at the moment.

OMG. I do hope that the blanching goes well. There are still 2 cauiliflowers to pick but they are a little bit small yet.
These are washed and in bags in the fridge to do tomorrow night.
It will be an experience anyway.

Look what we have.
Some new babies.
That is 3 in the corner ( sorry about photo it's dark outside ) and there are others on the other side.
There are nearly 8 hatched and as you can see by the eggs a lot more to come . Fingers Crossed.

The girls layed 13 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

Charming Nine Patches

The last 2 charm packs all cut up!

My 11 piles of blocks.
Total blocks 110.

 The first block.
Just a simple nine-patch.

And look I found my leader and ender project ( Double Irish Chain ) and have got busy.

 2 blocks.

 3 blocks.

And the 5 I put together today.

And the little pile of 2 patches for my Scrappy Double Irish Chain.

Mum came over to do some sewing on the Log-Cabin quilt she is making.
Here she is pressing her seams.

Pinning and unpinning the blocks on the design wall as she sewed.

And half of it done !.

I had a busy morning washing 2 loads of towels and 2 loads of sheets.
The clothes line was full.
Now they are all folded and in the linen press. Truly they are.
DH came home from work and asked if I was feeling alright.Lol.
Only school clothes to wash tomorrow.

DH will pick the Cauliflower tomorrow and we will have to blanch it and freeze.
I have been doing some reading up on blanching and will give it a go.

I even made diet jelly and two fruits to keep in the fridge for snacks. There my even be one left for me to take to work on Monday.

The girls layed 13 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

All O.K.

The next long half hexie ready to go.

A little more cutting out in the sewing room after we got home from town today.
But not quite finished as DH came home from work just as the boys got home from school so I called it quits for the day.
There is always tomorrow.

Grandma's results were good. It was a skin cancer but not a bad one and the Doctor said it should be o.k.
And there is nothing wrong with me, which is good. Even my cholesterol was good.........

I bought some sneakers today as DH and I are going to go walking.
Down by the river and around the trotting track as well.
We really need to get fitter and maybe eat less. Lol.

Out in the garden today was Mother Cat having a stroll in the Strawberry Patch, well one of them anyhow.
We have two other beds as well, and one row in the ground.
Strawberry Jam, Breakfast Smoothies and fresh ones will be coming out of our ears.

The babies having some greens.
They are going great and aren't scared to come out of their bedroom anymore. Lol.

The girls layed 14 eggs today. Again.....

Until Next Time.

New Project

Look what turned up in the mail on Tuesday. DH got the mail and didn't give it to me until he got home from work which was 10.30pm.
All those diamonds.
I am going to have to pull my finger out and get stuck into it.

Another new book for the bookcase.
I'm not to sure when I will get time to start but you never know. Lol.

I have been a very busy bee today.
Starting a new project. Very bad !
Cutting up my charm packs into 2 1/2" squares.

It wasn't a very quick job.

A freebie.  Half of a square. Thats 2 extra squares for me......

 Pieces everywhere...........

This is 4 charm packs all cut up !

And after I had sorted and stacked them into their little groups ready for sewing.

I have 68 sets. Hopefully tomorrow afternoon I can start sewing them together.

 Two packs left to cut.

I needed this to keep me going.Lol.

And I am going to use the cardboard out of the packs for a little project. Something useful........
You will just have to wait and see.

DH did some work on the Aquaponics System this morning before work.
Hooking up the pump.

And more of the plumbing. All of the pipes that the water pumps through.
The sun was shining beautifully today.
That is the chicken yard in the background and our two Fig Trees that had a very big haircut in the Autumn.

And the taps. You can't really see them in this photo but they are there.

These are the pipes running around the bottom of the grow beds.
Only the gravel left to get.
Gee I hope this works.

Well back to the Doctors tomorrow for test results and Grandma has to get her stitches out, well the two that are left anyway.

The girls layed 14 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

Our Very First

Our very first Cauilflower.
We are so happy because we always have trouble growing them. They always went to seed.
I think we will have it Friday night for tea when DH is home so he can have some too.

Only some basting of hexies tonight while watching Avatar.

The girls layed 10 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

No. 39

 Well no.39 is finally finished.

The girls outdid themselves.
15 eggs !

A quite uneventful day had by all.

Until Next Time.

Monday 22 August 2011

A Little Bit More

A little more progress on no. 39.
I'm having trouble sitting in my armchair that I sit in when I hand stitch so not much is getting done.
Trouble between my shoulder blades.
At the moment I am sitting sideways on my chair. It keeps my back straight.

What a glorious day !
And I was stuck inside like everyone else that works indoors.
Bummer..........

DH did a little more today on the Aquaponics today.
More plumbing and fitting of connections in the grow beds.
He still has a little bit to do.

And a photo of the whole system.
It's going to look better when full of vegetables.

DH also mowed the weeds out in the backyard. They were a foot high.
The garden on the left near the fence is the cactus garden.
The other garden on the right is one of our rose gardens.
It doesn't look very rosy at the moment but they have shoots all over them so we will have some lovely Spring Roses.

And a update photo of the babies.
They are going great.

The girls layed 7 eggs today.
They aren't very regular are they ................

Until Next Time.

Busy As Bees

This is our very long driveway. We are attempting to make it look like somebody actually lives here.
Now all the neighbours overhang is gone and we can see our plants. Yay.
This is looking down to the gate.........

This is looking up the drive to the house which is left of the car shed at the top.

Trailer load no.3. And the stuff isn't ours.

 Our potato's are going great.

Carrots and Radish going well too.

And the Peas which have started to take off. I think we need to weed them............

These are our Raspberry plants that we planted yesterday.

The fish tank for the Aquaponics System that DH is building with a little help from me.

The fish tank in it's final spot.

The grow bed area all level and the cages in place.

 From an other angle.
The tank under the others is the sump. It has the pumps which everything is watered from.
DH said it will work.
It works on the DVD's so it has to right. Lol.

The start of the plumbing with the pipes going from the fish tank to the sump.
It really sounds like I know what I am talking about. Lol.
I am the pipe glue painter and general helper and tool hander. I help things go a little quicker.

The plumbing from the fish tank to the sump. All those elbows to glue, 6 in total.
DH will have to muddle away on his own tomorrow as I will be at work.
I sanded the edges of the grow beds so there are no rough bits that we can cut ourselves on.

DH and I also planted some plants that grow on the side of the road in our cactus garden.  They are hardy and don't require a lot of water.

I think I will sleep well tonight.

And Grandma on her verandah enjoying the sun.

The girls layed 13 eggs today.

Until Next Time.
