I Have Added Another.....

And I have been reading too....

Nineteen Blood Lily flowers.

I think the sun was a bit bright , it looks orange.

They look a bit bare.
The leaves will come after.

I wish you could see these in person , because the photo doesn't do them justice.

We have had another beautiful day.
The sun was shinning and a cool breeze blowing.
Perfect weather.....

Great Sewing Day

Today I finished my third Rose Star block.
Yay.....

And basted my fifth.

Three lovely ladies came for a lesson today.
And Mum of course.
I think they went home happy......
We had coffee and chocolate cake . Yum....
And we did plenty of talking too. There were some silent moments , when they were concentrating .

While the lovely ladies were sewing , I was quilting my quilt.
My dear old sewing machine decided it didn't want to pick up the bobin thread.
Now I have to unpick a row of quilting as there are missed stitches everywhere......
Mum will lend me her old Janome so I can finish the quilting.
I have to wait until Tuesday to take it to the repair man as Monday is a holiday.

DH's Dad and his wife dropped in this afternoon for a visit.
They are down here for a little trip as her Dad lives in Swan Hill .
We will visit them in June and July for a 3 week holiday........we are nearly counting down the days.
Three weeks in Darwin.........so, so nice.
We haven't been there for 6 years.

Today was spent doing many things.

Like housework......

I did go out and tidy the sewing room.
And did a bit of pressing while Mum cut out the strips for a Jelly Roll race quilt.
I designed another quilt too.

Jacob stayed home from school today as he has a head cold.
But by 11am he wanted to go to school because he was bored.
He didn't go to school.......

The weather has been so nice.
Beautiful blue skies.
And cool breeze.

Things In Our Garden......

Sorry lots of photo's today !

This Easter Lily is a different pink than our other ones.

It is so much darker.
They actually smell nice too.

My white Geranium.

Something new we tried.
Crookneck Pumpkins.
They are very big too.
I think Pumpkin Soup is coming up !

This is the first time we have grown pumpkins on a trellis.

And rockmelons too.

My little bed of Blood Lilies.

They do open up more.

Today DH and I went to town to do a few jobs.
We had lunch at Riverside Park.
It is something that we haven't really been able to do before, but with his new job we can.

No sewing today , I have been cutting.

Our Mutant Carrot

I have started quilting the baby Trip Around The World quilt.

I know I've said it before, but I just love these fabrics.
I'm just under half way through.

This is my UFO scrap bag lattice.
I am using 1930's fabric.

And this is what I managed to get done before I stopped.

Yesterday DH picked some carrots and found this.

Our mutant carrot.

Wash Day !

Well, this morning while having breakfast and my 2 cups of tea I did a bit of basting.
And I have 2 Rose Stars ready to go.

They look bright and happy !

And I cut out another block.

Today was wash day as well.
Jacobs quilt had a bath.

I made it for his 7th Birthday.

It is a Susan Murphy quilt.
It is called Scrap Bag Lattice.
It is a little involved but I love it.
It is made using Jan Mullen's fabrics.

Here is the back.
I have one in a box all cut out and a few rows sewn.
So that is another UFO I have.

I have sewn these together tonight while watching The Ghost Whisperer.

The girls only layed 8 eggs over the last 2 days.

Next Star Block

This will be my next Rose Star block.

And I have started to baste it.
That is all the sewing I have done today.
Not that cutting and basting is sewing.

Last week we sold 4 pullets to a lady in Nyah West and today she came back and bought the other 3.
So that is 7 less mouths to feed.
We have to do a very big sort out of the hens as some are getting on in years and I'm sure they don't lay.
We will have quite a bit of chicken mince.
Lol.

I made sausage rolls for tea.
Zac mixed up the ingredients for me.

The girls layed 7 eggs yesterday and I didn't pick them up tonight.

Another Block Finished

Why do the days go by so fast when you get older?
I can't believe it's March already.
Four more weeks and it's my Birthday.
It will be Christmas again before we know it.
I know it won't, but it sure feels that way........

Today , as we had to be quiet because DH was sleeping
( he is working twilight )
I sewed on this.

My second Rose Star block.

Then I sewed the two blocks together.

It has been raining most of the morning and a bit of a drizzle off and on this afternoon.
It has started to rain again now.
The rain is great for the gardens.
But not for the many towns that have been flooded.
It's heart breaking.......

Zac has a friend over tonight.
He doesn't see him as much now, as he goes to a different High School . But as they have been friends since Kindergarten ( age 3 ) I don't think different schools will make any difference.

Jacob has been bored most of the day , which makes him annoying.
When I told him that Grandma was making biscuits he raced over to help himself to some mixture.
Lol.
Yum !

I forgot the eggs tonight.
It's like a skating rink of mud in the girls yard.
I nearly went down this morning in the mud.

A Nothing Day

Today we have had a misty rain off and on and it has been so much cooler.
It's great to not have the fans or A/C on.

DH and I went to Swan Hill to get chicken feed and do some grocery shopping.
Then we did not much of anything , except watch the cricket , talk and spend time together.

No sewing today.

The girls were very slack today and layed 4 eggs.

Autumn Has Arrived

Autumn is my favourite season.
The leaves are the best.
Some of our fruit trees have started to change already.

The rain from last night stopped around 9am .
We measured 38mm at home.
Some places have had over 200mm or more.
The poor girls looked like drowned rats when I went to feed them.
I also went mud sliding in their yard.

DH had his delivery of fingerlings today.
So his Aquaponics is stocked.
We have cherry tomatoes and watermelon growing in there at the moment.
With cabbage , broccoli and cauliflower to go in.

I am over halfway with my mystery quilt.

The girls layed 15 eggs over the last 2 days.

Summer Is Over

Well look at this......
The last day of Summer , and the rain they have been promising has arrived.
With what is on the radar there is more to come too.
It sounds so nice on the roof.
And best of all it has cooled down.
Lol.
Until the sun comes out again and the humidity will go through the roof. Yuck !!

As our block is on a slope the rain runs down our driveway.

Today Mum and I basted 4 quilts.
I finished one more block of my mystery quilt as well.
I may start quilting the baby quilt tomorrow , depends what I feel like doing.

DH cooked tonight.......we had KFC.
LOL.

As it is bucketing down outside the eggs weren't picked up.

New Cutting Station

This morning DH helped me set up the counter.
The top had to be screwed on and the middle section placed on the kick board thingy.

It will be my cutting station.
It got a bit of a rough trip in the trailer and could use some paint , but that's a job for another day.

The baby Trip Around The World top is finished.
I hope to baste it tomorrow and start quilting it.
It will be the first quilt to go in my Etsy shop.

I just love these fabrics.

I have finished another mystery block and sashed it too.
So I am a third through.

This is another storm photo from yesterday.
Zac took it just before it hit.
It is looking over our side fence and that shed there is my sewing room.

A Morning In The Garden.......

DH , Grandma and I , this morning , did a bit of gardening.
Cleaning.....Weeding.......Planting.

Double Delight

Some of the roses are blooming .

We cleaned up some vegie beds.
Planted seeds in the glasshouse.
And DH weeded some of the rose gardens too.
I pruned some branches off our London Plane tree as we couldn't walk under it anymore.

The weather last night and today has been unbearable.
So humid.
Yuck !
We had the A/C going full speed all night and it was still so hot.

This is the reason why.
All the weather from up north is coming down here.
I took this picture on our way home from town today.
we didn't make it home before the storm hit.

It came with quite a bit of dust too.
You can just see it on the horizon.

When we were in town , we picked up half of the counter from the shop.
It will be a great cutting counter for my shed.
When we get it together I will take photo's.
The boys and us got a little wet as we unloaded it from the trailer.
And the shed is a little muddy.
Nothing that a mop won't fix.

No sewing today.

Quack Quack

This morning DH and I went to Nyah West and bought 4 ducks.

They are Peking cross with something.
Don't they look nice.
We have put blue rings on their legs so we know that they are the older ducks.
We don't know if they are boys or girls yet.
I will keep you posted.

Now this crazy picture is my Diamond Hexagon map. Lol.
It is not all filled in ( because that takes forever ) but the picture is for you Linda.

A little sneak peek at Mums sewing project at the moment.
It didn't quite get finished today.

I have 2 blocks of my mystery quilt finished and sashed , now only 7 to go.

Jacob had a great time at his friends house and didn't get home until after 8 tonight.
Zac had a day out with his friend .
They went fishing and swimming.

It is so hot ! ! !
I hope the cool change comes soon.
It feels like the A/C isn't working.

It Was So....

........ nice to have a little sleep-in this morning.

My cousin and his fiance left at lunch time and Grandma was a bit sad.

DH fixed the buggy for Zac and he has been driving it around this afternoon in the neighbour's paddock.
Zac and DH just got back from going spotlighting.
Zac is a " dead eye dick " with his shooting.
Jacob is spening the night at a mates house.

Mum and I did some sewing out in the shed.
Mum's project is coming along and should be finished tomorrow.
The mystery quilt is starting to take shape too.

Tomorrow we are going to get some ducks.
Finally some ducks for the duck pen.

My Last Day

Today was my last day at work at the shop in Swan Hill.
I have next week off.
And then I will wait until the boss says she needs me to help arrange the new shop ( church ) so they can open again .

I might get some of my sewing done this week.

Grandma had a day out with my cousin and fiance.
Grandma was the tour guide *lol* and she took them the long way to Swan Hill through New South Wales.
They did some shopping in town and Grandma had them pick out some things for a belated engagement present.

Grandma cooked a lovely roast tea for us all and my brother and his boys came for tea too.
We have had another great night.

No sewing today.

The girls have layed 20 eggs over the last 2 days.

Family Visits

Well on the work front , all is set for the big Clearing/Garage Sale tomorrow.
The shop is very , very empty.

On the home front......
My cousin and his fiance arrived just after I got home.
I haven't seen him for nearly 13 years.
Grandma spent the day making salads for tea.
I made a big platter of cheese,cherry tomatoes and kabana , with dip and ritz crackers.
DH cooked a BBQ when he got home from work.
My brother and his girlfriend came for tea as well and so did Mum and Bruce.

It was a great night.

No sewing tonight.

Warming Up Again

Well , we didn't get covered in dust today.
Four more shelves are empty and will probably not be there in the morning when I go to work.
We loaded up the boss's car with mostly fabric and a few boxes.
Also there are now lots of bolts marked down to $5 and $10 a metre.
And heaps that are at bolt prices of $5 and $10 too.
By tomorrow there will only be the specials left for the big clearing /garage sale on Friday and Saturday.

It is warming up again and won't be cooler until Tuesday.
I hate the heat.

Grandma is very excited as my cousin is coming to see her tomorrow.
He lives in South Australia and hasn't seen Grandma since she moved here , and she will have been here 10 years come August.

Well no sewing got done today either.
I really must baste some hexies and get one finished this month.
I still have a few days.
Lol.

As I had to cook tea ( spaghetti ) and I vacuumed right through the house ( because we are getting visitors ) and have done some of the laundry, which reminds me that I had better put some in the dryer or I will be wearing my birthday suit to work and that would not be a pretty sight

Happy Birthday to DH's brother.
He has just turned what I will be in about 5 weeks.
Bugger.

Still Cleaning....

Well , we didn't quite get to cleaning the other half of the counter today.
We got all the fat 1/8ths packs bagged up though.
Between customers and boxing up fabrics and taking down shelving, we were kept rather busy.

The shop will be closing on Saturday.
I am working all week to help with the packing.
Then I will be helping at the church to get everything ready to open back up.

Zac had drum lessons tonight.

No sewing tonight.
I have been watching T.V with DH.

The Dust Bunnies.....

What a day!

I still have dust and fluff and god knows what in my lungs and eyes.
After folding and sorting all those fat 1/8ths that I ironed last week ( Sue did help ) they are now in their happy little piles.
They just need baging up.

We have been cleaning up and sorting through all the stuff under the counter.
Dust bunnies were everywhere. ( even a mouse.....I did sceam....it was attached to some batting , very attached......why do mice not decompose ? It just looked at me. It is now in the bin , batting too )
Cough, cough........
Sneeze, sneeze.........
We will tackle the other half tomorrow.

You find interesting things when you get to the back of the cupboard.

I haven't sewn tonight , but just might soon.

DH stopped at his Mum's on the way home from work and got a dozen of those blue eggs.

These are the ones that hatched last time.

Chickens are like Voltures.
They peck our toes when we go to feed them.
They are devouring a zucchini.

A Fantastic Day Out With Friends

Mum and I met with our Sunday sewing group for breakfast at Spoons , down on the Little Murray River.
It's right next to the Pioneer Settlement.

I even managed to get some sewing done.
I sewed two more joining sections.

And I sewed all of this , despite all of the talking.
These Rose Star blocks take a bit of sewing together.
But I can't wait to add a few more blocks.
And I'm not sure how big it will get , but if I'm going to all the trouble of hand piecing it I may as well make a decent size quilt.

Saturday Sew Day

I got an early start out in the sewing room today.

I traced , cut and basted more joining blocks and added two more .

I have also been sewing my mystery quilt.

And I helped Mum cut some of her strip sets.
So she is now off and racing. :)
It won't be long until it's finished.

Mum came for a ride to Swan Hill with me , as I took 9 chickens and a rooster in for Sue.
DH helped catch them . ( we are now like chicken farmers ) Lol.
We were in and back in an hour , with a quick stop at the supermarket too.

Here are some of the chicks from the blue eggs.

The ones that look white do have faint lines on them like the others , so it will be interesting to see how they turn out.

What I Have Done

today......

I have finished basting my second Rose Star block.

And basted and sewed a joining block.

Mum has sewn all her strip sets for the quilt she is sewing.
Tomorrow she will do a lot of cutting.
We didn't get around to basting the quilts either.

I have worked on the mystery quilt.

I picked Zachary up from school today so I could take him to get his hair cut.
Grandma had hers cut as well.
And while I was there I thought I may as well have mine cut too.
It was so nice to have someone else shampoo and play with my hair.
I have had a bit over an inch cut off and it's still down to my waist , only because she straightened it.
We didn't get home until 6.30pm.

Tomorrow we have to catch 9 young pullets and a rooster and take to Swan Hill.
Sue my boss has bought them.
Now she will have her own eggs.

The girls layed 18 eggs over the last 2 days.

A Sewing Day

Today , after the morning jobs were done , I escaped to the sewing room.

I have been working on my mystery quilt.
Four blocks made ? to go!
I have also been constructing the sashings.
Yes ! You read right.....
They aren't just plain fabric.
So that little mystery is out of the way.

Mum started another quilt too.
It will be going in my Etsy shop.
It will be a surprise until it's finished.
Don't worry , Mum is sewing it so it won't take long. Lol.

Tomorrow we will baste two of the quilts that Mum has recently finished , so they can be quilted.

Tonight I have basted a few pieces of my next Rose Star.
And checking out the blogs I follow and some that I don't.

We forgot the eggs again.
Doh !

Ironed Out.......

This is the big pile of fat 1/8's that I have cut and ironed.

And I won't complain that my feet are hurting either. Lol.

Tonight DH cooked a BBQ and we ate our tea on our new outdoor setting that we got ourselves for christmas.
There were only a few flies too.
Even Grandma joined us outside.

DH and I just finished watching " No Strings Attached " and it just finished in time for him to go to work.
Night shift again.

As he will be sleeping tomorrow I should get some sewing done.
Hopefully.....

Our Yucca

Our Yucca is flowering again.

It seems to be flowering every year now.

Such beautiful flowers.
The lady that made my Mum's wedding bouquet turned these flowers inside out somehow.

A not so busy day today at work.
I bound a quilt.
And made backing for a quilt.
And as Jinny Beyer is coming to Melbourne for AQC in April , I sorted out some fat 1/4's and cut them in half for fat 1/8's.
Now I will be at the ironing board for quite a while.
She will be doing 4 x 1 hour talks at the show.
Then a 1 day class on Wednesday after the show in Melbourne.

Zac had music tonight.

Another manic Monday at work this morning.
There are still a lot of bargins to be had.

I was given a little treasure trove today. ( thanks Sue )
There is still so much to pack .
A few more fixtures have gone too.
Oh, I had a dream that I went to work and the shop was empty !
But it isn't.

Not by a long shot !!

What with getting tea and homework and watching " The Big Bang Theory" just love that show ! I just didn't get around to any.

An Off Day

I would like to say that I have had a productive day, but I haven't.

Other than doing some washing and the dishes. ( that doesn't count )

DH did a few things outside. And watched some of the cricket.
Jacob talked and played with his friends on X-Box live.
Zac went to a friends house to hang out and saw his cousins and uncle as they live next door to his friend.
I finished a book.

After lunch I felt so bad , I felt like being sick.
I feel much better now.

No sewing today.

I think I'm as bad as the kids.
We always had to get up very early when we worked on fruit blocks , so maybe now I'm making up for it.

And had a good tidy up out in the sewing room.
Mum cut out the strips for a baby sized Trip Around The World quilt.

DH worked the morning shift and then went fishing with a friend.

Jacob's kitten was curled up on our window sill, he was asleep until I got to close.

The boys have survived their first week back at school.
And I guess I have too. Lol.

Mum came over for a while today and finished off her little scrappy log cabin.

She didn't make as many blocks as the pattern said, and then added the scrappy border instead.
It may get basted tomorrow along with the black and white top.

I have been sewing on my mystery quilt.
And I finished another free book from i-books Tall, Dark and Lonely by R.L.Mathewson.
    For a fantasy novel it was very good.
    If you don't mind blood , gore and sex it is a good read.
    It was the first in a series and I just had to by the second.

DH played golf with a work mate this morning.
When he got home we watched the cricket until we had to go to Swan Hill for an appointment.
We brought home noodles for tea ( yummmm )
And watched more of the cricket.

I have a bit of a cold.

Clean Out.....

Today I took a little trip to Nyah West to Zachary's old school and picked up a CD that had photo's from Australia Day.
Thank you Mr Winbanks.

He was a little bit nervous and embarrased as you can see on his face.
He really needs a hair cut.

Here he is with councillor Gary Norton recieving his certificate and medallion.

And with his very proud parents.

The Easter lillies are nearly all out.

Here they are, all 21 of them have flowered or are about to.
I should have weeded them first. Lol.

And our new babies are growing very fast.
These are the chickens from the blue eggs.

I did do some sewing today.
Added one more block to my mystery quilt.

Then I got domesticated and started cleaning out the tupperware cupboard.
I found tubs without lids and lids without tubs.
And the ice-cream container lids. They can be cut and used for labeling seedlings , so out to the glassouse they went.
Then I tackled the pantry.
It is quite amazing what gets pushed to the back.
I now have 8 empty and clean bottles for next years sauce.

I have been reading too.
And playing suduko on my i-pad.

Happy Birthday To You

What a day!
I was so busy at work today that my feet hurt.

Today is my darling DH's Birthday.
We went out to tea to celebrate.
One of DH's brothers came and his 2 kids , our SIL had to go to a meeting so she couldn't make it.
And DH's mum and step-dad came and two of his sisters and their kids .
We all had a great time.
And got home late !
The boys won't want to get up in the morning.

So no sewing tonight.
I should get some sewing done tomorrow , as I only have to go to the chemist and drop in at Zac's old school and pick up the photo's from Australia Day.
( can't wait to see the photo's )

I haven't done any sewing tonight as Zac started back at his drum lessons.
So the weekly quick drive home and back to town has started again.

The boys are actually getting up and getting ready for school without much direction from us which is a great change.
Jacob has mostly electives ( different art classes , drama and psychology ) and the boring maths and english. Lol.
Zachary is liking High School ......so far !

And the weather is delightful......

A Dust Storm

Just before lunch a little dust storm blew in.

And did it blow!

I only lasted a couple hours.
This was the view from my sewing room.

The wind broke a branch off our Jacaranda tree.

I did a bit of cutting out of some Rose Star blocks.

The colours didn't photograph very well.
Now I just have to baste them.

Home Made Is Best

I finally finished it.
My first Rose Star block.

I will continue and make more.
How many ? I'm not sure yet.

Today was sauce making day.
I have no idea how much stuff this great big boiler has made , but I can say quite a lot !
Grandma has had it for so long.
It has made pickles and chutneys and sauce and every jam there is.

So we ended up with 12 kgs of tomatoes for the sauce.
Most of them were Roma's.
I snuck in one zucchini too.

I chopped the apples.
And Grandma chopped the onions ( they make me cry )

Jacob helped me carry the pot from Grandma's house to our house.
We did the chopping over there as DH was sleeping.
So at 12.30pm the pot was on the stove.

The strainer has been around for ever as well.
It is missing the knob off the handle but it still does the job.

And at 5 minutes to 9pm this is what we had to show for our efforts.
19 big bottles and 4 little ones.
Mum came over just as I had put it back on the stove to cook after straining it and stayed to help me bottle it.

My house smells like sauce and I love it !

School Days Have Started

Today my baby started High School.
And as you can see , what they liked to do when they were little , they don't like to do now !!
At least Jacob did turn around , he did have his back to me.
The cupboard behind them is the measuring cupboard.
It's the one I take photo's of them in front of so I can see how much they have grown.

Oh , how they have grown !
At least they let me kiss them goodbye.

I did promise weeks ago that I would show how the front lawn has grown.
DH mowed it today.
Just the bit by the tap is having trouble but it won't take long .

DH and I picked close to 20kgs of tomatoes today.
Tomorrow after he is awake grandma and I will make sauce.

Tonight for a little while Kylie and Simone and I had a little sew along.
We sent text and photo's to each other.
Not that I sewed much. Lol.
I had my nice cup of tea and some chocolate biscuits........all that a girl needs.
Oh, and my sewing of course.

I have nearly finished my Rose Star block.
Just three green bits to add.

DH had a busy morning outside.
He finished off the door on one of the chicken pens.
So now we can move some around.

I took Grandma into Swan Hill for a doctors appointment and some shopping.
And we didn't get home until 7pm.
We were a while at the doctors.

One Month Down

Only one month left of summer.
And seven days until DH's birthday.
He has been lucky this year and he has his birthday off.
He was in Melbourne last year for his birthday so we didn't get to see him.
I did send him a card , which he wasn't expecting.
I'm not sure what we will be doing for it yet but I will work something out.

The boys have only tomorrow left of the holiday's and it's back to school Friday ( wierd I know ) one day then the weekend.
I'm having trouble getting them to go to bed.
I am not looking forward to Friday morning.

Another very busy day at work.
I did finish the BOM. ( sewed the last mitred corner at 4.55pm, I was going to stay until I finished it )
So we just have to wait now for it to be quilted.

No sewing tonight.
But I hope tomorrow , maybe.......

And the eggs didn't get picked up.

Out To Dinner

What a day !
I made binding and bound a quilt.
Cut sashings and started sewing the BOM together at work.
I should finish it tomorrow.
So many people came in today , I think they thought the shop was closing the doors today.
Still 2 to 3 weeks to go.
There is so much to move and clean out.
And when it all gets to where it's going, it will take a few more weeks to organise.

DH , the boys and I went out to tea.
It was one of DH's work mates , wife's birthday .
Not much fun for the boys as they have girls.
But it was a good night.

So no sewing tonight.

Reading Again

DH and I saved some fuel today and went to work together.
As he started work at a normal persons time today , and I didn't have to get the boys ready for school , we took the same car.
I was very lucky to get a doctors appointment this morning too.
I have something on my back.
I'm not sure if something bit me or what.
But if the antibiotics don't work then it will have to be lanced ( ouch )
I hope the antibiotics work. Lol.

No sewing tonight.

I have also started an applique quilt , and when it's a top , all will be revealed.
I do hope there will be people brave enough to make it. Lol.

Today we spent a few hours in town as we had to bomb the house. ( for flea's )
Last year they were so bad.
We have to call the pest man to come spray again.

Jacob spent some of his Christmas money and bought himself some jeans and two shirts.

We bought some lunch and went to the skate park for the boys to have a bit of fun.

And Zac had his scooter.
Half an hour was enough in the heat.

Zac had his picture in today's paper.
It was a very nice photo.

I did a bit more on my mystery quilt while DH was umpiring the charity twenty/twenty cricket match in Swan Hill tonight.

Australia Day

HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY !

I hope everyone has had a great day.

We had a nice cooked breakie at Nyah West which was put on by the Lions Club.
Then the business end of the day with the speeches and the awards.

Zachary recieved a certificate of achievement and medallion.
We are very proud of him.

This is him looking very bored while some of the speeches were being made.
He really needs a hair cut.
The local paper was there and took his photo with his certificate.
I will post a photo when I get one.
Jacob spent most of the day at a friends house.

These are new babies that hatched while I was in South Australia.
DH's Mum got the eggs from someone and they were blue.
Aren't they cute.
We don't know what they are.
Some have better markings than others .
There are 15 of them.

We forgot to pick up the eggs today.

Easter Lilies
No sewing today.
After 2 trips to Swan Hill ( taking Zac to the pool and then picking him up ) and watching the cricket then watching the movie " Friends with Benefits "which was funny, witty, sweet , sad and very entertaining I ran out of time.

Home Again

We are home !

We arrived home safely at 4.30pm this afternoon , after leaving the Barossa at 11.00am our time.
It is such a long drive.
I was having trouble keeping my eyes open as I only had 5 hours sleep ( strange bed and to many thoughts )
It would have been nice to stay a bit longer , but as Zac is recieving something at the Australia Day ceremony tomorrow I had to be home.
Gosh , more bacon and eggs tomorrow for breakie !

My cousin loved her hug quilt.
There were a lot of tears yesterday and some today as well.

My cousin cooked bacon and eggs on the BBQ for quite a few of us for breakfast , which was really tasty.
If I had known he was going to , I could have supplied the eggs. Lol.

I might work on my mystery quilt tomorrow.
I hope.
And as DH is still on holiday he can help me with my resume.

Well I did get up when the alarm went off.
And then had a very nice hot shower.
We had a safe and uneventful trip.
The service was very nice.
And very sad.

It's Hot

It has been hot now for over a week.
I'm glad we will be in the car for half the day tomorrow, as it's going to be a hot one.
The funeral is at 2pm so we are hoping to leave by 7am.
I am not a morning person , but that is nothing that a hot shower can't fix.

It was very warm in the shop today and despite the heat it didn't stop people from shopping.
I have finished 7 blocks of the BOM for the shop , only 2 left.

Mum called in to put her car fridge in my car for the trip.
And then I vacuumed the car , so she is nice and clean now.

I hope I will be able to post something tomorrow as I will only have my phone.
So it may be a short message.
Despite the circumstances it will be nice to see family again.

So I'm off to bed as we have a long drive tomorrow.

Sleep Overs

Mum has been sewing like a mad woman ( I think it takes her mind of things for a little while ) and has finished another jelly roll race quilt.

It is using just a black and a white jelly roll.
For a mad Collinwood supporter.
It's definitely very different.

I have been working on my mystery quilt.

Zac has had a friend stay last night and most of the day , until his Mum came and picked them up to go to the pool.
Then I picked up Zac and his other friend who is staying tonight.

Back to work tomorrow , then off to South Australia on Tuesday for Aunty Fay's funeral and home on Wednesday.
If only we could snap our fingers and be there.
It is such a long way.

I washed the car tonight out front on our new grass. ( will take a photo when I remember )
And will give it a vacuum when I get home from work tomorrow.

Here are our new dozen babies.
One little red one in there , it looks so funny with all the others.

Here are the next oldest chicks.
There are two different age groups in this pen.

These are some of the bigger ones.
They are from the eggs my Dad gave us to hatch.
I think we will have a rest from creating more mouths to feed. Lol.

The Same , But Different

Mum finished her second " Holly Jolly " jelly roll race quilt today.

And here are the two of them together.
The one on the left hasn't been ironed yet so that's why it looks smaller.
They look so different.
While Mum was sewing that I was working on my Mystery Class quilt.
Still no sewing on it yet.
And my lips are still sealed girls !!
That goes for you to Natalie. Lol.
As to the Toll House Cookies , when I have time I will post the recipe.
They taste so good.............

Sometimes I think my brain is like a sieve because I forgot to take photo's of the babies.
DH and I moved them out to the baby chicken run , so they can go under the light at night.

We have close to 80 chickens in all different sizes.
OMG !!!
If anyone would like to buy some young pullets we have 12.
Just let me know.

My brother came for a visit with his girlfriend and her two girls today ,which was nice for Grandma.
The girls kept going out to the garden to pick Strawberries.
I'm glad they didn't run into the great big Stumpy Lizard that we saw when we got the eggs.

Babies Again !

I took the boys to town early today.
New shoes for both of them , plus school shoes for Zac.
Only two weeks left of the holidays now.
And Jacob had his hair cut !!!
We got a few groceries , filled the water bottle and had a stop at the patchwork shop for some fusible web.

Tonight when DH got home he and Jacob made Toll House cookies.
Jacob made this cookie man.

Not bad !
There may be a fight over who gets to eat him. Lol.

We have 12 new additions as well.

I should do another hexie , I've been really slack.

Today Mum finished another jelly roll race quilt.
It's using Holly Jolly fabric.
And she started another one too.

I will take a photo of them together when the other one is finished, as she is using the same fabric.

A Very Sad Day

Today's post is going to be one of those that no one wants to write about.
This morning my darling Aunty Fay died.
She was one of Mum's big sisters.
I can say now that she is pain free and now with Uncle Geoff.
But that doesn't make us feel any better.
It was a great shock to everyone , as she was going home from the hospital today.
And I know Mum will probably not sleep a wink tonight.

This photo was taken nearly 2 years ago at Grandma's 90th.
Aunty Fay is the short one and Mum's oldest sister Aunty Lorraine.
Aunty Lorraine had a very bad stroke 5 years ago and we nearly lost her too.
Mum has had a very rough trot, losing 2 of her brothers, and now Aunty Fay in the space of 2 years.

I have started sewing some of the binding down on the Jelly Roll race quilt that I made ages ago.
Well it seems like ages.
I am giving the quilt to my cousin who lost her husband late last year.
She can then have a hug from me at any time.

At work I have been doing this.

My poor fingers.
I was so scared that I would accidently cut through the leaves and have to start all over again.
I would have not been happy.

This is the finished block.
I am up to block 4.

Today was quite a busy day at work.
A lot of familiar faces too.
People seem to come all at one time , it's kind of strange how that is.

Simone dropped in after her daughters dentist appointment , much to her disgust.
As all children of quilters think that their mothers have enough fabric already , so why Mum do you need anymore.

DH called in at work to say hello and kill some time as he dropped Zac and his friend at the pool.
Zac looks a bit like Rudolph now.

Sunday Sewing With The Girls

I did manage to cut out and baste my first Rose Star block.

I did sew a few pieces together as well.
But only a couple.
I'm going to use scraps of the Dolls Dresses fabrics that I have.

Was so nice to see the Sunday Girls.
We all had a great time at our monthly sewing get together.
It was great to see Simone too.

We all went out to have tea at DH's brothers , which was good.
Home made lasagne and garlic bread.
I took a salad and a starters of dip , ritz , home grown baby roma tomatoes , cheese and kabana.
I think the boys had fun with their girl cousins.

Summer Garden

Our Crepe Myrtle has been flowering some more.

It looks nice when it is all out.

Things in the garden do look nice in the Summer.

Today I made this bunny rug out of flannel.

It is double sided.
It has a Riley Blake print on one side and a nice pink check on the other.
It will be the first thing to go in my Etsy shop.

My brother and his boys stopped by for a while.
Zac and his cousins did a bit of slug gun shooting.

And DH and I watched the cricket.
And we have just finished watching " Due Date " so funny !!!!!!!

Friday The 13th

Well today not much of anything was done.
After the dishes being done and washing hung up it was time to go to town and the funeral.
It was a graveside service and though it wasn't hot we did get sun burnt.
I now have a bright red forehead and white where my sunglasses were.
DH is sun burnt too.
I don't have a good hat just the one I wear at home.
Must invest in one, I think.

After all our running around in town and some appointments and after-funeral drinks ( because that is what blokes do ) we got home at tea time and quickly made some steak sandwiches and then I dyed Jacobs hair.
I sort of did the tips only.
It is a darkish brown colour so I hope it isn't to dark as he has ash blonde hair.

One must not wave to the local paper's photographer ( even if you know her )
Because then she will take one's photo.
And then she will put it in the paper.
And I hate my photo being taken.
She took DH's and my photo with our neighbour when we were at the trots the other night.

So no sewing done today.

We forgot the eggs tonight. Oops!!
DH copped a migraine when we got home , so with getting tea and doing Jacobs hair I forgot.

Unwanted Exersise

Well the weather today was very nice.
Not to hot , with a cool breeze.

DH went with friends to play golf today.
At least the windy weather had gone.
He didn't win.

So I had a play out in the sewing room.

And did the next block of the Noah and Friends BOM.

I would have done some more but I have been in the toilet most of the day.
And my sewing room doesn't have a toilet , so I had to keep running inside.
So I got some exercise. Lol.

Tomorrow DH and I are going to town for a funeral.
A former work associate of DH's died.

And do some school uniform shopping for Zachary and school shoes.
Always money!!
Now I will have to label their clothes as they will have the same size.
Bugger.

Isn't It Summer ?

Today I finished cutting , folding and bagging up the BOM.
It is a Michelle Hill pattern using William Morris fabric.
Arts and craft era stuff.

DH , Zac and Grandma had an appointment with the 6 noisy roosters and they are now headless , featherless and in the freezer.
So no more 5 o'clock serenading.

Tonight after tea we went for a little walk to the trotting track to see the trotts.
We never bet on them we just pick horses between us and see who wins.
I won twice and DH once.
We only watched 3 races because it is so cold.
The wind is freezing.

Here are the boys sitting on the grass with their jumpers on.
There was no way we were going to get eaten by mozzies tonight.
Too cold.
Jacob was playing on his phone.

Movie Night

The sale at work is keeping us very busy.
The stuff that we are finding tucked away in boxes out the back.
There are many specials and bargains too.
I'm nearly sick of rolling and tying fabric up.
My poor feet didn't like it today.

I have started cutting up a new BOM too.
Something a bit different than looking through boxes and sorting.

We have watched Cowboys vs Aliens tonight which was very good.
Love Harrison Ford.
I think I have watched just about every shoot em up and kick boxing movie ever made.
With only brothers in the house I didn't have much choice.
We also watched horror movies.
Now I can't watch them at all.

So no sewing tonight either.

Visiting

After a very late night ( morning , the boys didn't get home from the speedway until 12:45am ) we had a very good sleep-in.
I said some very bad words when I looked at the clock.
It was 11 o'clock.
So breakfast was lunch, and then that just stuffs up the day !
DH and I went to town to see his friend and drop something off to him, then we went and did a bit of shopping as the boys wanted pizza for tea.
Then we went to DH's brothers house on the way home to drop off some corn and tomatoes and we ended up staying for hours.
Isn't it usually parents ringing their children to ask where they are , and when they will be home , not the other way round ?
We had a few of those phone calls today.

The pouring rain woke me at 3:30am , which was nice to hear on the roof.
We ened up with 21mm , so nearly an inch of rain.
The garden said thank-you.

No sewing done today.

A Little Dust Storm

Something To Crow About !!!

What a day!!!!

Well I didn't get half as much done as I could have , because I was so busy with customers.
After the boss put an add in the paper reminding everyone of the sale, she also announced to the local public that she is relocating the shop to the little town where they live.
The shop will now be in the church across the road from her house.
So now the shop will be over 30 minutes from Swan Hill.
And way to far for me to travel for work. ( It takes me 20 minutes to get to Swan Hill )
I will now be looking for a new job.
I have known for a while that she was going to move , just not sure when.
Sometime in February.

Well no sewing done today.

And in just over a week , 6 of our roosters will be going into the freezer ( not before time ) the bloody things crowed all the wee hours of this morning keeping me awake !
I usually don't hear them but I woke up when the computer decided to update and turn itself off then on again , making that noise it does.
I thought one of the boys had turned on their computer , but it was the house computer , I will make sure it's turned off before I go to bed tonight.

I have finally finished Diamond Hexagon No. 52.

Now I have to baste as I haven't any left.

It even measures right.

As I go back to work on Thursday I'm not to sure if I will keep up, but I will try to get another one done tomorrow.
And I've sewn a few Irish Chain blocks.

We went to town this afternoon when DH woke up.
The boys wanted to spend some of their Christmas money.
They both bought an X-Box game.and Zac also bought another Nerf gun.

It's still hot !
But they say it's going to be in the low 30's tomorrow ( that will be great )

Hot, Hot, Hot............

While DH was sleeping this morning I slipped out to my shed and did some sewing.......

I have sewn the first 2 rows of blocks together , and the next 2 rows into pairs.

I also got some leader and enders done for the borders,

Then tonight when DH went to have another sleep before work Zac and I went back out to the shed and he had some fun on the treadle with some paper.

As you can see he had his Nerf gun with him.
And the little red round thing you can see near the bobbin , he had just finished making it.
It's just 2 circles sewn together by hand ( he's a lefty ) so I have trouble showing him things.
Then he stuffed it and whip stitched it close and used it for target practise for his gun.

I have joined Just Takes 2.
This is block 1.

I have decided to use pink and cream.
All different pinks and creams.
I just have to applique the circle down.

I am so glad for air conditioning.
It's so hot.

2012 Is Here !

Welcome 2012.
I hope everyone has had a safe and happy New Years Day.

It was way to hot outside today to do much of anything.
So, after a good sleep in and a late breakfast, we didn't do anything!

This is all I have to show for today.
Very slack..........
I have read a bit of my book and we have watched T.V.
And I have been reading blogs and surfing the net.

Well today I had plans to sew some but my dad and brother didn't go home , so we talked most of the day.
They are leaving early in the morning to beat the heat.
Mum and I went to town early and did some shopping.
Then I took Zac back at lunch and got KFC and took some to DH for his lunch.
So we sat and ate our lunch with the cows and Zac stayed with DH until he finished and then went fishing for a while.
Only the carp were biting though.
Well I have to go now and pick up Jacob from his friend's .

We really aren't much for celebrating new years but I wish everyone a Happy New Year ! !

The Blocks Are Finished..........

I finished the 6 blocks that I had left.
Yay !!

Now is the sewing them all together bit.
I will be adding a cream border then pink 2 1/2" squares then another cream border then more 2 1/2" squares.
Which will bring it out to be 86" square.
I will try to get some done tomorrow in between shopping and taking lunch to DH and dropping Zac out camping with his Uncle.
Or he may just go a few rounds in the feed truck with DH.

This is the blue/teal quilt top.
I prefer the pink one but that is just me.
I love pink !
Mum has so much fabric left that she will be able to get another single bed quilt out of it.

DH finally managed to catch up with my Dad today.
They are going home tomorrow.
They caught so many yabbies.
Dad and Grandma shelled them all and put them in jars of vinegar , so Dad can take them home.

We are going to have a small heat wave for the weekend.
Nothing like a few days over 40 degrees to get one going. Lol.
I do prefer the cold.

Counting Down

Only 2 more days left of the year !
Where has it gone ?
I remember when I was little , thinking how slow the days were , and that Christmas would never get here.
Now they just fly past and Christmas is around the corner.

Today I got stuck into my Irish Chain.
I sewed 48 four patches.
And 6 blocks so now I only have 6 left.

Now its just fill in the gaps.
I hope I can get them done tomorrow.

I recieved a very lovely parcel in the mail today.
Some things from The Fatquarter Shop.
A book panel ( the tawny scrawny lion ) it's just beautiful.
I collect book panels so when ( oneday ) I have Grandchildren , I will have a bookshelf full. Lol.

And the cactus are in bloom again.
It rained.

They went in the incubator with the eggs my Dad brought over .

Sewing With Friends

Today I had some company to while away the hours.
Kylie came to have a sewing day !!

I put together another block of Noah and Friends.

And I know some of you would have guessed what I was making.

Another purse.

I also sewed the last 7 of these for my Irish Chain.

And I have twelve more of these to go.
This one I sewed today.

Mum's new quilt top is finished.
It's very simple , just borders and more borders.
Now she has to make the other colourway which is blue/teal.
They will be going to some special little girls.
The fabric is " Giddy "

Now today the girls layed only 5 eggs ????
Some of them are clucky so that might be the reason , who knows !

Lazybones

This is another part of my project.

The reveal will be tomorrow.

I have been a bit lazy today.
I finished off a book and started another.

Our Crepe Myrtle is starting to flower.
It will soon be amass of pink.

My brother , nephew and my dad arrived late afternoon.
And with my other brother and his girlfriend , we all lobbed at mum's and had a BBQ.
It was nice to see them again.
I hope we can fit in a few days in January and go over to South Australia and maybe go catch some crabs.

Another Block Done

I have finished another block of Noah and Friends.
Not the stitching though.

Mum has started another quilt.
A panel in the middle with various borders.
She might get it done tomorrow.

And I have started making something too.........
Not telling yet.

This is Jacobs cat at the window , trying to catch the rain drops running down the window.
It was quite funny.

DH had his game of golf this morning with his dad and brothers.
Then he played X-box with Zac.

I heated up the cold meat in a pan with gravy for tea and we also had fresh out the ground potato's and straight off the plant zucchini and beans.
It a wonderful feeling sitting down to a meal knowing that you have grown most of it yourself.

We watched Mr Poppers Penguins.
Very funny , lol moments.

Christmas Day !

I hope everyone has had a great day ! !

My sister in-law made the gingerbread house, which the boys in the family have demolished.
Big boys and little boys alike.
It had flake for the fence , freckles for the roof , bullets for the fence posts and smarties for the trim.

As per usual we had to much food.
And I feel as stuffed as the turkey. Lol.

My boys ( all 3 ) spoilt me and got me an i-pad.
It will be great to read my books on a bigger screen now.

And a lovely white cover.

DH and his partner for today , called in at home this afternoon.
Zac sure did love it.
Grandma did too , as she hadn't seen DH in his is uniform.

Zac and I had a game of Jenga and we managed to get it up to 30 levels.
I did lose the game.
It was a gift from one of his Aunties.
I think the boys got more than they wanted.
And are very happy.
Zac got an x-box 360 , so he is very , very happy. Now he will leave his brothers alone.
Jacob has a new phone that he can actually use at home , as his other one had no reception here.
DH got a new set of golf clubs , which he will be using tomorrow when he plays the annual boxing day golf tournament with his dad and brothers.
So , I may do some sewing tomorrow.

And finally the dresses ! !
The girls got them last night and wouldn't take them off.
Don't they look sweet.

Tuesday my dad and brother and nephew are coming over from South Australia for a few days so that will be nice.
Well after a very hot christmas day , it has cooled off , and started to rain and storm a bit.
Great for the gardens.

I would like to wish everyone a very MERRY CHRISTMAS.

Grandma and I have had another very busy day.
The meat is cooked and the salads are all made.
Zac made the curried eggs.
Grandma made trifle too ( I don't like it )
DH mowed the grass and vacumed .

Grandma picked some zinnia's and I put them in a vase ( I'm no florist )

They look very pretty.

The boys and I are having a quite night watching carols by candlelight ( at the Sydney Meyer Music Bowl in Melbourne ) it's a tradition.

Busy , Busy........

Christmas is a lot of work !

All the meat has been thawing today as I will be cooking it all tomorrow.
I have boiled a couple dozen eggs and peeled them so I can curry them tomorrow.
I have made 2 different desserts and I will cream the pavlova christmas day.
Grandma will cook the turkey in her oven and I will cook the chickens and pork in mine.
We also have ham.
Grandma has made the stuffing and we will stuff the birds tomorrow.
Granny and I will be making some of the salads tomorrow as well.
This is the first time we will be having a cold lunch.
The reason is that DH has to work a twilight shift christmas eve so he will be getting home between 3:30 and 5:00am depending !!
So he will have to sleep for a few hours , try to socialize , eat lunch then be ready for work again by 2pm.
He is going to be a zombie........
He does get boxing day off though.

I also got the buttons and button holes on the dresses.

This is one of the books I made.
So everything is made wrapped and under the tree.
And that is a first !!
So no more staying up wrapping presents to all hours for this little black duck.
Might have to do the same next year. Lol.

Only 3 More Sleeps

We got an early start to town.
And got all our jobs done too and got home just after 12pm.
Then the fun starts when you have to drag it in and sort it out.
I so hate that.

Tomorrow will start with finishing off one book panel and putting the buttons on the dresses , then I am done !!
With the presents anyway.

Then I will start on the cleaning and catch up on the washing , I hope........

Tonight we went to Lake Boga for the rescheduled work party.
Speed boats and skiing , jet ski and the barby boat.
BBQ tea and a lot of fun , until the mosquitoes came .
The sunset was beautiful and I would have taken a photo but Jacob was using my phone.

The girls did lay eggs I am sure , but we didn't pick them up as we got home late.

Holiday Time

I'm on holiday's.
Yay !!
I go back to work on the 3rd of January , so I will have a nice break.

Today block no. 6 arrived of Mrs. Billings Coverlet.
( I haven't even finished block 1 )
But it is started. Lol.

The 2 dresses looking rather fine !
I ran out of time to get buttons today as we got to talking at work and I left late.
But I will get them tomorrow.
Which is something I am not looking forward to.
There is going to be sooooo many people in town.
I have just a few more things to get .

Zachary's school shirt signed by just about everyone at school.

Something to keep forever.

Last Minute Madness

Tonight after I got home from work , and after we had tea I went out to the sewing room and made the next dress.
And silly me forgot a photo !!
They look so good ( even if I do say so myself )
Tomorrow I will have to buy some buttons and finish them off.

I also have 2 book panels to make up for a niece and nephew that are 9 months old .
From experience , children that age like the wrapping paper more than what the present is.
So I will be spending the next few nights out in my sewing room.

As I got an early minute ( 30 actually ) from work today I had time to get grandma's present.

I had this photo enlarged to fit an 11"x14" frame.
She is going to love it.
It's wrapped and under the tree already.

Zachary had his grade 6 break up dinner at the Tooleybuc Club and then they played mini golf.
He said he had a great time.

Graduation Night

I finally took some photo's.

These 2 blocks have only the 16 points.

I do like working with the border prints.

Tonight was Zachary's Graduation from Primary School.
And also the end of year school Christmas Concert.
From the little preps to grade 6 , they all got up on stage and had a really good time......
They performed short plays and sang songs .

This is his class grades 4,5and 6 dancing the Nut Bush.
Zac is in the stripped jacket and santa hat.
Zac had the lead in his class play.
He was the Grinch.

At sewing today I basted and sewed.......

Diamond Hexie no. 51.

Today was our christmas breakfast with the sunday girls.
At spoon's , which is on the banks of Murray River.
A very beautiful setting.
We all had something different to eat ( I had bacon and eggs on a yummy roll )
It was also pouring with rain.
Much needed rain for the garden too.

Today was also DH's work christmas party.
The boys were so looking forward to it too , but the weather had other idea's.
They were to go to Lake Boga and and do water activities and have a BBQ lunch , oh well there is always next year.

Satuday Sewing

Today I finished the monkey block.

Isn't he cute.
And I have started the giraffe block too.

And Mum finished her quilt top.
The colours don't show up very well though.

I thought this was funny. The skirt of the dress I'm making standing up by itself.

The pattern is from a Homespun magazine.
I am making it for my Brothers girlfriends daughter.
And will be making a smaller one for her sister.

And the finished dress ( except for the button holes and buttons )
It only took 2 hours and 15 minutes and that included the cutting out.
They will be christmas presents.

Starting Another Quilt

We have had a very warm day today.
35 degrees.
Offically hot enough to swim. Lol.
( well for me anyway )

Mum came over this afternoon to sew and has nearly finished her quilt top.
I have been tracing and cutting and ironing then cutting some more.
Oh , and some sewing in there too.
I have started appliquing a new quilt.

This is the centre block.
It's called Noah And Friends.
I hope to get more done tomorrow.

My Baby Is Growing Up

As I was very busy at work and my very poor memory , I forgot to take photo's of the Compass blocks.

No sewing tonight as Zachary had an information night at High School for next year .
My baby is going to High School.
Now I know I'm getting old. Lol.
He will be going to High School for the next 2 days to meet his teachers and his class mates.
Then 3 days next week and Primary School is finished.
Only 6 more years of School.

Addictive Games

As I have only been sewing at work today , I thought some more flowers will do for show and tell.

Hibiscus.

As I have said before , I don't know the name of this one.
But it sure is pretty.

This one is under Grandma's bedroom window.

And a standard Double Delight.
It looks so much better in real life.
The ground under the roses is covered with violets.

Truth be told I have been a little addicted to a new game on my phone.
Angry Birds.
Thats what I have been doing tonight.

We have had another very warm day.
And as the roses are flowering well again I took lots of photo's , over 30 of them.
I might get some blown up and framed for Grandma ( she loves her roses )

So when I am half way through this diamond , it means I am half way through my diamonds for my quilt.
A wow moment.
But still a very long way to go.

Today we had DH's family over for lunch , so the morning was taken up with making salads and hamburgers for the BBQ.

Christmas Festivities

Only sewing done at work today !
And a busy day it was.

I had to race home straight after work as Zac had school captian duties at the Nyah West Christmas Carnival.
With hot food , doughnuts , popcorn , buggy rides , train rides , live band , jumping castles , face painting , fireworks and of course Santa.
Oh , and a little bit of rain.

We aren't to sure what happened with the girls today but they only layed 7 eggs.

A Day Out In Town

What a day !

Other than being at work, I don't think I have spent all day in town before.
DH had an appointment at 9.30am , so we left home at 9am.
Then started the Christmas shopping !
Lunch was had down by the river , at Riverside Park.
Then to Murray Downs to pick up DH's new golf sticks.
We killed some time and stopped to see DH's brother.
Then more shopping.
Then DH had his doctors appointment while I picked up Jacob from school so he could get his hair cut.
Then it was food shopping time.

Then we stopped at a friends house to get someone.

Posey.
Who is fast asleep on Jacobs santa hat.
Now Posey is a boy cat , but as he does some great poses , Jacob decided that was his name.
we didn't get home until nearly 6pm.

Cleaning Day !

Some of the blue Agapanthus are out.

It's a great shade of bluey/mauve.

They make a beautiful show.

The roses have come to a bit of a standstill as the weather is getting hot.
They are best in the Spring and Autumn , the Summer really knocks them around.

DH and I did some cleaning today.
The linen cupboard had a major overhaul.
Stuff got put in the bin.
Why do we keep things ?
( Oh , it might come in handy one day. )
Well DH now has a big bag of rags for the shed.
He also sprayed the weeds around the place.
I gave Zeus a hair cut with the scissors , while DH held him still.
He looks so funny.
Then DH gave him a bath.
We pressure washed the entertaining area out the back.
And I did heaps of washing. ( now I have heaps more from cleaning the linen cupboard )

Another Compass

I had a busy day finishing off another Mariners Compass block.
Then finishing the binding on the one I made last week.
And I have to make another on Friday.
I will take a photo of the one I made today , on Friday.
I think by now I could make them in my sleep.

The patterns for them came in today as well.

I have finished the binding on my cushion tonight.
Also I have been reading.

And a very Happy Birthday to Kylie I hope you had a lovely dinner.
And I hope you had a nice afternoon.

Diamond Hexagon No. 49.
Only 50 left to make.

I am a very lucky girl.
Sue , my boss , did a class with Robyn Pandolph a couple of weeks ago , when she went to Melbourne for the trade show.
She brought home Hope Cove , Robyn's new range that they used in the class.
And guess what?
Sue gave them to me.
They are very , very nice.
I haven't had a very good look at them yet , but I will on Wednesday as I have swapped again for Friday.
I will have to wait until the fabric is released to get some off the bolt for borders and binding.

Christmas Decorating

Time to start adding some Christmas cheer to our house.
So as we were all home today , up went the Tree.
We still have tinsel to hang everywhere too.

Here is a santa I made quite a few years ago.

And here is a beautiful star that Zachary made with glass beads and straws.
Got to love them !

And Jacobs ball that he made in grade 5.

And of course the star on top.
Only 21 more sleeps.

I made santa many years ago.
I love to folk art paint , but as it is something that can't just be put down halfway through , I haven't done any for so , so long.
I have so many kits in my painting box , waiting .
One day !
