A No Sew

This morning we had a load of sand delivered for our cementing.
And we got the section we had boxed up finished before I had to take Grandma to the doctor.
I forgot to take photo's....

Grandma is in pretty good shape for someone who is 92.......all her organs are good.....just the gallstones.
So it's good news.
She also had her hair cut , so she's a new woman.

No sewing today.

The girls laid 6 eggs today.

What A GLorious Day.....

A perfect Spring day....the sun was shining and the birds were singing too.....lol.

Oh, and we have 2 baby chickens.
Old mama chook hatched them out.

DH did more gardening and planting and some organizing outside on the gardening front.

After lunch I got stuck into some quilting.

The pinwheel quilt is all quilted and trimmed.

Now just to add the binding.....

I may have gone a touch overboard with all the quilting , but I like it.

I would love to wash this one and see it crinkle up.....

The backing is the background of the top and a piece of the "Ruby" collection that I had.

And another pinwheel quilt in the making.......made from "Domestic Bliss"
It looks better in real life!!

I have been preparing pieces for my next quilt and when I have done more I will have some show and tell.....

Looks like DH and I will be doing some cementing tomorrow morning , then it's off to town for Grandma's doctors appointment in the afternoon.

A Busy Day

It has been a no sewing day today.

DH and I have done quite a lot today.
DH did some veggie planting. ( I watched )
I watered the roses out the front ( they are shooting nicely )
Then we had to pick up Zachary.
Then we went to Mums to get a trailer full of grain for the chickens.
Then we bagged it up.
Then it was lunch time.
( Grandma was feeling well enough to make chicken soup )
DH went to visit his brother and drop the trailer back at Mums on his way.
Jacob rang earlier than expected and asked to be picked up , so off to Lake Boga we went.
A stop at the super market on the way back.
We Refilled the water bottle.
Then stopped at Kylie's to give her some eggs.
Then we went to Wood Wood to our friends house to drop them off some wheat for their new chickens ( they have settled in well )

We have had a very busy day.

I may get to sew tomorrow.....

Nearly Finished

I have nearly finished quilting the pinwheel quilt.
I should get it done tomorrow and the binding too.
Mum has finished all the blocks of the next pinwheel quilt she has been making....... I forgot to take a photo.

DH helped his friend move house today.
We happen to be home alone....both the boys are at friends houses.....can't remember that happening before.

It is still windy and cold.
At least I got the clothes dry.

Labouring

DH and I were up early to go for an hour drive to get another load of bricks.
We dropped Zac off at school first.
We got the bricks from a friend of DH's and he helped chip off the mortar and I stacked most of them in the trailer.
3 layers of bricks......88 in each layer.

So now we have 2 stacks of bricks.
I think we will have enough to build our pizza oven.

We sure did get our exersise today.

On the way home we stopped at the hardware store and bought a new wheelbarrow as our other one has a big crack in it......which will not do for cementing.
We hope to do some on the weekend.

We also caught 4 chickens and transported them to their new home.

The chickens enjoying their new pen.
They all have names too.

No sewing done today.......maybe tomorrow.

Blown Away....

I got in some quilting in this morning before work.
As I'm quilting horizontally and vertically and then diagonally it will take me a few more sessions to get done.

Mum came over for an hour and a half and made a few more pinwheels.

No school today as there was a teacher strike.

The change has come through and it has been extremely windy today.
The windows are rattling as I write....

Poor Grandma now has a cold.

The girls layed 13 eggs today.

Work .....And Some Quilting

As I didn't have to start work until 1pm I had some free time this morning and started quilting the pinwheel quilt.
I also ironed the rest of my bits for my next quilt.
I may even have photo's by the end of the week.....

The mercury hit 25 degrees today.......a pity I was inside all afternoon.

Another Beautiful Spring Day

The weather today has been a lovely taste of what is to come.
I even had the A/C on in the car to give me fresh air.

I picked up Grandma after work......
She had just had her ultrasound and she has lots of gallstones.
So Monday we find out the results and what they will do.....or not do.

I haven't done much else today.....lazy I know.
Just been watching my 3 weekly Ghost Whisperer episodes while DH was sleeping.

Fathers Day......

Boy was it cold this morning......
The temperature was alternating between 1 and 2 degrees on my way to work , but it turned out to be a beautiful day.

Thank-you to everyone's kind words and wishes.
Grandma is staying another night in hospital......they are going to do an ultrasound on her heart and gall bladder.
She is in good spirits .
Her blood pressure went up over 200 again last night , so I hope they get that sorted out before she comes home.
I spent a hour and a half with her this afternoon , after work.

After DH had finished watching his football team for the last time this year , we walked down to the oval with Zachary ( and his plane ) and the dog.
When Zac was flying the plane DH did 2 laps of the oval with the dog.
I'm not sure who was the most puffed.
I was hoping the poor old dog didn't have a heart attack as he is nearly 9 years old.

I did ring my Dad for Fathers Day

We were going to have chicken wings on the BBQ tonight , but the gas bottle ran out , so I ened up cooking them in the oven.
Serve myself right for asking him to cook on Fathers Day.

No sewing today.....I did look at it though , but that was all.

The girls laid another dozen eggs again today.

Things Happen.......

Sometimes ,I think one should never make plans.
I did plan to do some quilting today after work, but instead I was at the hospital sitting with Grandma.
I was woken at just before 4am to her bell ringing ( she has a door bell buzzer and we have the bell bit )
I thought I had dreamt it ( as sometimes I do ) but I didn't.
It was foggy and freezing at 4am too.
She had chest pain and felt dizzy.
So I got the ambulance and they took her to the hospital.
Her blood pressure was over 200 when they got her there.
After work I took her walker in and sat with her.
She was still in emergency and had just had an X-ray ( all ok ) the bloods hadn't come back yet.
Her blood pressure had come down heaps and she was feeling much better.
She had also had a sleep.
They are keeping her in overnight.
By the time I got home I was a near zombie, so I have just watched tv with my DH.

So I have had a no sew day.

The first day of Spring was a sun shiny affair , but that cold wind........

Let's hope the party over the road doesn't go all night.
DH said he could hear it in our bedroom when he was having a sleep.
