Goodbye 2012

Dh and I worked outside today.
We put stones in one of the cactus gardens before it got too hot.

Jacob is in town for the new year celebrations.....

Zac and I are watching a tele movie 'Meteor' another end of the world movie.

DH is at work keeping the party goers in line......I hope !

No sewing today.

I hope everyone has a  HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!

A Few More Blocks......

I have finished another 4 blocks......
16 down 20 to go.

I also bound one of the nephews quilts.....so now mum has some homework.

Block 26

Mum finished another pineapple block and we trimmed the rest of the blocks too.
She has 10 blocks left.

Grandma made cake today and she was having trouble mixing it.....so me to the rescue....which was good as I got to lick the bowl and the beaters and the spatular.....just like I remembered............

Getting There Slowly........

I finished another 5 blocks today.

So thats 12 down and 24 to go......
Not that I'm counting.
Lol.
Let's hope another 5 get done tomorrow.

Block 25

 Mum finished another pineapple block and cut , joined and pressed the binding for my nephews quilts.
I will bind them tomorrow.

I trimmed 12 of mum's pineapple blocks and put them back on the design wall.
They nearly look like they are already sewn together.

It has been a beautiful summer day.......
A ' just right ' day ..... if you know what I mean.

4 loads of washing I managed to squeeze in too.

Zachary has gone to the speedway tonight with his uncle and cousins.....so he will be home very late.

Jacob looks like a lobster ........he has turned red !

He was wearing thongs too.....his poor feet.

Lots Of Applique..........

I appliqued 5 blocks today.

Lazy........

I have had an extremely lazy day.......

I finished a book.
Watched the cricket with DH.
Played Angry Birds.
I didn't sew.......

Hung out with the boys for a while ( I gave them massages )
Jacob started a new job today ( manual labour ) at a wholesale fruit tree nursery.
20 hours a week.
He was still smiling when we picked him up and he did the work.
So he has some very proud parents at the moment.

I plan to do some sewing tomorrow.

Boxing Day 2012........

It was back to work today.

DH got up early to go to the boxing day golf day that the extended family have every year.
Then he was just heading to work when I got home......so he will be very tired when he gets home.

Mum came over when I got home and we had a little sewing session......

I have started to applique my tile quilt.....so it will occupy me for quite a while.

Christmas Cactus........

It has been a really beautiful day.....
As you can see in the picture below.
A lovely blue sky......

The cactus bloomed for christmas......

 The boys had a great morning......and Zachary woke us at 6.30 and asked if he could open his presents and I told him to go back to bed.
He must have been a bit excited.

We had lunch at mums and then we went to DH's mums for tea.
So all in all a great day was had.

Christmas Eve.........

I would like to wish all my blogging friends a very........

........ Merry Christmas!!!!!!

Everyone have the best day with family and friends and don't eat too much !

It was a mad rush in town....so many people , and very busy at work.

DH met me after work and we did some last minute things.

After tea we got to work and put together this.......

He is happy but not smiling.
We didn't want to put it together tomorrow so they got an early present.

Tonight we have been watching carols by candlelight , a christmas tradition.

What a long day.......
An extra long shift due to the Christmas rush.
And it was a rush.......

Tonight was my work Christmas party and we had a BBQ down at Riverside Park......we played cricket and got eaten by Mosquitos too.

Then we dropped in to see one of DH's friends to say merry Christmas.

I had better go to bed as its a 5 o'clock start for me in the morning.

One More Finish.......

More domestic duties were done today.....

Mum came over too and I made the backing ( with a zip ) and put the binding on the last cushion for her to finish.
As I'm working for the next three days , she is lucky that I could get it done for her.

.......christmas pudding is made.
I ended up making 2 puddings because I didn't think the mixture would fit in one bag.

I haven't actually sewn today but I have been writing up my pattern.

Mum picked up my nephew's quilts yesterday  (that have finally been quilted ) and we trimmed them today.
They are not for christmas so we don't have to rush and finish them.

It's.........

...........funny where inspiration strikes.......

A lady came into work today to get fuel and she had a very interesting blouse on.
So interesting that I had to take a photo of it as she was walking out..........I'm bad !!
So something else for my design folder.

A very hot day today but it has cooled off now.

Tomorrow is christmas pudding making day......I'm glad it is going to be cooler as it takes 4 hours to boil.

I will try to baste hexies as I watch a pudding boil.......lol.

Games.....

Today was spent doing the usual daily  'house' things.....

I hung out with DH as he was staying awake today after nightshift so he could go to bed early tonight.

We watched the cricket and had some fun playing table tennis ( even if he was a near zombie )

I have pinned the binding of the blue and yellow four patch baby quilt so it's ready to go.

My Tile Quilt......

Way back in January this year , I designed this quilt.

Today I finally finished ironing the pieces on the blocks.

I will be raw edge appliquing them on.
Now I have a big job ahead of me.....
I will be having a give- away of the pattern when I have had them printed.

Christmas Sewing Day Fun.......

Today was our last Sunday sewing for the year......
We had way too much food.....isn't that always the way.
And as always I think we talked more than we sewed.......

Jenny has been to Peru and bought all these finger puppets home.
I cannot believe people have actually knitted these tiny toys.

And I was ironing my applique pieces onto my blocks.

Some Stitching......

What a lovely sound and light show we had during the night.....
Is it bad when lightning nearly blinds you , even with your eyes closed ??
I'm not kidding !!!
The rain was much wanted anyway , even if it interupted my sleep.

Mum came over at midday and we sewed for a few hours.

Rain......

An update on the weather......it has rained , a little.
It's still hot though.

I was a bit slow with the camera and missed out on the cactus flowers......the sun got to them first.

I did get to do some sewing today.
I bound the cushion that's for a christmas present.
Mum helped me baste another quilt top.
I did more work on one of my secret projects......
And Mum finished block 20 of her pineapple quilt ( forgot to take pictures )

The boys went to Nyah West tonight for the christmas carnival......and they got a bit wet.
When I went to pick them up I could see the firework display.
I think the fireworks looked better from a 3 km distance.

A Hot One........

Well Grandma and I didn't manage to beat the heat........it was already 29 degrees when we left home at 9 am.
So the Christmas food shopping is done....just fresh veggies to get before the big day.

I didn't do much today as DH was sleeping and I couldn't make any noise ........... so I finished the last few chapters of the book I was reading.

I have been binding tonight while watching T.V.
Some sewing tomorrow as I don't have to go anywhere.........

Zachary and I had a game of table tennis.....I won ..... just !

More Blooms........

I took some photo's this morning , before work , of the flowers and buds on the cactus.

They say it will rain if they bloom......
Let's hope !
Those pretty flowers from yesterday are all gone today.....

Another very warm day today.
And every man and his dog told me so as well !
It is to be hotter tomorrow , so Grandma and I are going shopping very early.......

And I hope to get out in the sewing room tomorrow afternoon.

Cactus In Bloom........

Our cacti are flowering again.......

And all the others have buds all over them.
They have forecast rain for the end of the week........
So I should have more to show then.

As I didn't start work until 1pm , I did some stitching this morning before work.
I'm still just binding quilts........

Playing Around......

We have had another beautiful warm day.
Work again.....that horrible 4 letter word !

More table tennis when I got home.
I won a game against Zachary......we are really having lots of fun.
Grandma likes to watch as she used to be a tennis player.....and if she didn't need her walker to stand up I think she would join in.

Fun.........!

Well it was back to normal today....after our little trip.
It was work for me........DH is still on days off , but he and Zachary put together the table tennis table ( one of the things we got on our trip ) so we got straight into having fun when I got home.
The wind was playing havoc with the ball....it kept gusting in the entertaining area and blowing it away.
We have had a great afternoon.......we definately need to do it more often....instead of sitting around.

We have rearanged the lounge room to make room for the christmas tree.
It's by the window this year.

DH mowed the grass while the boys and I played........we had some mother and son time.

No sewing today......

Home Again......

We arrived home safely after our little trip away.
The boys and Grandma are all in one piece.
So is the house......
After the hot weather today it has cooled off and become very windy.
The wind just started as we left Melbourne and got very cool , very quickly.
I did manage to sew together a middle of my next hexie and glued the 2" hexies I had left.
I have no more papers left now.......

I will update the eggs tomorrow.

Time Away.......

After a late get away.......we got to our destination.

DH had something at work to do before we left and it took a bit of time.

We picked up the lay-by's we had and they managed to fit in the car.....was worried for a while !!

The boys are home looking after Grandma or she's looking after them.
They will probably stay up all night.........

We have had a lovely tea....we ordered in from a restaurant and are watching t.v uninterrupted.......bliss!

I don't know the egg count today.

Work Again......

Just another working day for me.....
No sewing either.

Mum and Grandma came home today.
They had a great time away.
Grandma spent a couple days with dad.
 And mum went to see her sister.

Tomorrow DH and I are going to Melbourne for the night and stopping at Bendigo on the way to pick up some christmas presents.
We are having a night away by ourselves......can't remember when we did that before.
I will take some stitching with me as well.....might get some done.

A Different Finish.....

It has been another no sew day for me.

I worked all afternoon....did some shopping.....cooked tea........the usual stuff !

DH and I promised Jacob we would watch a movie with him tonight.....so we did.
And as I can't sew in the dark....( you have to watch movies in the dark ) I couldn't sew while watching it.

I have to get another Diamond Hexagon finished this month as I missed out last month.
I did start one though.......lol.

I finished the book I was reading this morning...I just had a few chapters to go and I just had to finish it.
It's a free book on ibooks......" Discovering You " by Melissa Kean.
I enjoyed it very much.
Nearly 700 pages long too......

A Finish.......

I have spent some time in the sewing room today.

I have finished my MIL's christmas present.

I also cut the "Marmalade" fat 1/8th pack that I had.
I needed 13" of them all.....so they are safely packed away with the 13" bits of "Ruby" and "Vintage Modern"
I needed roughly 80 pieces to have enough for my 2" hexie quilt and the half end pieces so I cut them out of the leftovers......
I have been basting hexies too.....and these are all the papers I have left , so I will have to start stitching or buy more.

I'm still reading.......

I even managed to load a photo.....I'm not to sure what has happened but I updated Adobe and I think it has done something to my computer........there are little changes in some places.

It is terribly windy and cool........snow for Tasmania and the mountains in Victoria.......the weather is crazy !!
Hail storms along the east coast yesterday......well it is 2012 !

I forgot to get the eggs tonight.......oops !

Domestic Day

Well......I was going to sew today , but I got side tracked and got a little domestic.
I cleaned and did washing.
I even cooked........
We have a nice selection of snacks in the fridge.

I've been reading again too.....

DH fiddled with the computer and loaded this photo......so I will have a go myself tomorrow.

Lazy........

I have been so lazy today !
I have done the feeding jobs and turned on the water for the vegies.
Also some washing and cooking.
But most of all I have been reading........
I looked at my sewing......but that was all.
I'm bad !!!!

Still Binding.......

Very early this morning ( after midnight )  we had a loud clap of thunder and a 2 minute down pour and that was it.
So much for the rain.....
Some towns have been very hard hit by thunder storms and are without power.
I guess we were the lucky ones.....

I worked today.
I swapped Monday for Saturday because we went to Melbourne.

I cooked the boys and me some spaghetti for tea and I have been stitching the binding again while watching T.V.
