Rain.......

I know I go on about the rain but .........last night !!!!!!

I have never heard such loud rain before. 

I think every rain drop was a bucketful for some if the 'showers' during the night. 

They kept waking me up. 

And the rain has continued today........

I have sewn some if my strip sets and pressed them and I'm now cutting them. 

I hope to sew the middle section tomorrow.

I Got Some Sewing Done.......

This morning I FaceTimed with Kylie and mum. 

They were having a sewing day.....so I joined in. 

I ironed and cut more fabric out......

All cut and ready.........

And 4 sets sewn before I had to go to work. 

I'm making a Trip Around The World......because Kylie told me to. 

Lol. 

Work was busy , but not crazy.......

It rained all night last night and it's been raining on and off all day too. 

And yes , the frogs are still singing to us. 

I have the next 3 days off so I hope to get some sewing done.

Sewing Related.........

It's a late post tonight.......

I was reading and lost track if time. 

This afternoon I pulled some fabric from the stash and ironed it and it's all cut out ready to sew.......

Even the binding strips are cut. 

More about it when I start sewing. 

And I pulled out these too........

.......for another project. 

It's been raining again.........and most of last night too. 

The frogs are BACK !!!!!!!!

Today........

.......has been the same as yesterday. 

Except I did sew Velcro onto DH's inner belt for use with his equipment belt. 

I might get to sew tomorrow.

A Boring Day.......

I've just had a boring day.......

Just stuff at home and to the shops for milk.......and I had to get Jacob a pencil case. 

Then off to work. 

I only had to work till 8pm because of it being a public holiday. 

So no sewing today......

Sewing With A Friend.......On Australia Day..!

Today has been a slow lazy Sunday. 

And that's ok with me because that's what Sundays are for.........

We got done what needed to be done. 

I read some.......

Watched a movie with DH........

I did some washing ( we needed our work clothes )

And best of all I sewed with Kylie.........on FaceTime. 

I sewed this.......

Another Mug Rug.......

And I sewed 2 more scrappy trip blocks. 

The bottom 2 right blocks. 

I have very poor lighting in my sewing room. 

All the bedrooms do actually. 

I will have to buy myself some lamps I think. 

Kylie was sewing her trip around the world quilt top. 

It's raining again.........

Early Morning Start.........

I was up with the stars this morning........and I think it took me 2 hours at work before I woke up. 

I didn't sleep well.....which didn't help my cause. 

I plopped in a chair when I got home , ate my lunch and played Candy Crush and checked bloglovin and emails for an hour before I had a shower and went down the street. 

Then DH and I watched 'The Croods' we haven't watched it before.....it was good. 

We liked it anyway. 

The boys didn't want to watch it with us. 

Some of the cricket was watched too.....

DH and I made pizza for tea.......

No sewing today........

Family........

First off the bat this morning we dropped off DH's ute to get the A/C fixed......

Holy Moley.....!!! Do they know how to charge....we nearly fell over. 

Then home to clean up a bit as we had DH's dad and stepmum and his sister and family over for tea. 

DH cooked lamb on the spit. 

And I roasted the veggies inside. 

We moved around some furniture too.....I think it looks good. 

We did some shopping too.....

It has rained most of the day as well , quite heavily too. 

I had time to finish my mug rug......:

I quilted the top and batting and then baged out the top/batting and backing. 

Turned it right sides out and gave it a good press. 

And then sewed closed the opening and top stitched around the edges. 

And I have my first mug rug.......

Tea was good......and we all had a good time. 

And now I have my nieces to teach sewing too. 

Well I had better turn in as I have to get up at 6am and go to work. 

I hope it's my one and only morning shift.

Cuts........

After a little sleep in I took Zachary to get his hair cut. 

So he's all ready now for school......

I worked this afternoon......and my feet hurt today ........

I sliced my finger on the blade for the mixer too. 

I didn't sew either , but this is what I'm making at the moment.......

It's just a little mug rug......

It will finish at 4 1/2". 

I might get it done tomorrow.

Busy.....Busy......Busy !!

This morning I headed to the shops to get myself more shelves. 

And they were all out if pink.......:((

But I got blue instead.......

They are more if a teal blue and they look bright and happy with the pink. 

I came straight home and assembled them......

DH was sleeping so I amused myself with stuff in my sewing room. 

I also made these too......

Artist canvases covered in batting and then I used the command sticky things to attach them to the wall. 

Hopefully they live up to their name and come off cleanly if they need removing. 

I'm going to make one on the other wall..... I can make one 75" square. 

I've a plan in my head for it and I hope it works. 

My brother came and collected a couple more boxes of granny's things......

The cat is behaving herself and follows us  everywhere. 

I have sewn today ..... but I will show it tomorrow.......it's something little.

Cat Sitting........

This morning we went to the airport to help pick up DH's sister and family. 

Our car was needed and there are 5 of them.......plus the cat. 

It was a quick pick up and drop off to Quest and home again as I had work. 

And Darwin delivered as well , it rained as we were walking to the car......

And guess where the umbrella was ?

At home !!!!

The cat is very friendly........

And very well fed......

And is settling in well......we aren't to sure how long we will be cat sitting for. 

Just as long as the landlord doesn't find out..!

No sewing today.......but hopefully tomorrow.

Setting Up.........

This morning DH helped me move the table and the Sweet Sixteen into my sewing room. 

You can see that I've put together my third shelf. 

I'm going to get some more if they still have any left. 

That's my quilting corner........

And I have some things in the cupboard.........also some tubs that I have to sort through. 

And I found my Irish Chain.......

So it can now be finished off too. 

No sewing today as sorting and setting up things took up my morning. 

I had work this afternoon........

My Own Space........

I have Zachary moved into his new room......

And his old room is cleaned and steamed.......

..........and ready for me to turn it into a sewing room. 

My pink power cord is in place. 

And I assembled these two shelves today and I have one left to do. 

I guess by now you all know I like pink....

On the sewing front.......

I have four more blocks cut out. 

But no actual sewing today. 

It's still raining........

Good News......

All is well for my brother and dad. 

The CFS has controlled the fires and my brothers fiancé was allowed to go home this morning. 

This picture is from the back of my brothers property. 

Cooks Hill is just black. 

They are very lucky.......

Much luckier than the houses lost on the other side. 

It has rained here all day.......inches...!!!!!!

And it's still raining quite heavily. 

And those frogs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I recorded them today and sent it to my friend. 

And I'm right...she said they sound like ducks. 

On the sewing front I've managed to stitch 3 scrappy trip blocks together. 

Whilst using my 2 1/2" pink squares for my Irish chain border as leaders and enders. 

My leader/ender bits. 

Block 8......

I have found a way that suits me for the unpicking part of this......

I lay the strips out like this......

Then fold them where they are to be unpicked.....then I unpick a few stitches leaving the strips where they are. 

Then sew the ends together......then I don't get confused as to where to unpick. 

( because I do. )

Get confused that is......

And chain stitching them........

Then I just unpick the rest of the seams and press and sew the strips together........

And I have a hassle free block. 

I've also tried to get Zachary moved into grannys room......he's nearly there..!

Just a few things out of his robe and his tv.......

He is sleeping in the new room tonight. 

I vacuumed and steamed the floor in there before we started the move. 

So it's been a busy day at Daisy Hill.....

Sewing Related.......

After breakfast and the morning housework ......dishes and some washing I started pressing my strip sets that I had already sewn down south. 

I thought I would start hacking away at my scrappy trip blocks. 

The pink one. 

I will have photos tomorrow. 

They are ironed and one set is cut. 

I took DH is lunch ( as he was at the academy today ) on the way home I did some shopping ( food ) and went to the two cheap shops and bought Zachary a desk and myself three pink shelves also.....

........this pretty pink power cord. 

On a horrible note......my brothers house is under threat from bushfires. 

He's stuck in the middle of Australia due to the truck breaking down and I can only imagine what he's going through. 

Mum couldn't contact his fiancé ...... so we hope she is somewhere safe. 

My dad doesn't live very far from him and granny rings me and says we have to leave and hangs up on me. 

WTF !!!!!!!!!!!! ??

So then I can't contact them for hours and I don't know where they are. 

...........finally granny rings and says they are at dads and they will be contacted if they need to vacate. 

There are fires everywhere.......

40 degree + temps in South Australia and Victoria for days on end I hope the change comes soon. 

So today has been interesting. 

I made the boys request for tea......lasagne. 

It's not the quickest thing to make is it ?

And DH and I have watched the Aussies win against England in a thriller. 

They chased down 301 runs to win. 

It was fantastic. 

I hope I have good news to report tomorrow. 

Maybe we can send our rain down there.......it's still raining outside now.

More Stuff........

DH and I got a few jobs done this morning. 

First off , my chiropractor appointment. 

Then on the way back we dropped off stuff at our storage garage.......in between heavy rain showers. 

Then we decided while we were out , and had the time , to go to the boys schools and get their books and shirts. 

So they are ready to go.......only a week and a half to go now. 

Then off to work I went. 

And it was busy.....busy .....busy !!

No sewing today. 

Maybe tomorrow.......!!

Storage.........

This morning DH and I went to hire a storage garage. 

We need to clear out the garage at home so the car will actually fit in it. 

So now we can store stuff we don't use. 

We have all the boys Lego........

Lots of books......

Zachary's nerf guns......

A cupboard and assorted things that we can't get rid of. 

And we stopped to get tubs to store stuff in too. 

The ones that we had have gotten brittle and are cracking. 

And this afternoon it was just work for me. 

No sewing today.

Rain........

It's been raining since last night........

And this afternoon it got heavy. 

And it's still raining. 

And the frogs are in full chorus.........

This morning was wasted as I was on the phone and on hold for 40 minutes before getting through and then after talking and sorting out what needed doing and then for 30 minutes after being put through to another department..........I gave up in the end and hung up. 

I will try another day........

Just work this afternoon.......

A Day Out........

A very dear friend has been visiting her son and family in Darwin and today we got to have our day out. 

We spent an hour and a half in the quilt shop........

It was nice to be able to wander around knowing we had the time to do so. 

I picked up a couple patterns. 

One was for a bag......

One for a sewing companion folder.......

And the last was a little zippered phone case.......

I got a few 1/8ths too........

And a pretty tin........

We were planning to sew......but that kinda didn't happen......lol. 

We got talking and pattern looking through.......and looking at some tutorials on YouTube. 

Tonight I've been watching my taped shows......and catching up on my blog reading. 

It's been raining off and on all day and the frogs are BACK...!!!!!!!

They come right up to the doors......sounds like they are inside. 

We are still not sure if the low approaching will become a cyclone yet.....time will tell. 

But windy rainy weather we will get regardless.

Sewing.........

Today I got to play........

........with my sewing machine. 

I made backing for this......

........quilt top mum made for me. 

It's only a lap quilt. 

This is the backing......made with the leftovers......I always get to much fabric !!

The pink check will be the binding which is cut ready to sew. 

I've been catching up on washing.....watching the cricket.......some shopping.......talking to granny..........cooking tea ( I was actually home for once ) and tonight I've watched some Ghost Whisperer and a movie I had taped.

Just A Working Day........

This morning was spent doing the washing.......I've still got more to do. 

Don't you just love housework. 

Tomorrow I can go and pick up my Christmas present. 

It has finally arrived.........

I probably won't have time to play with it........but I can on Sunday. 

I rang mum to say hello.......she is fine.

It is nice to be home......

The boys were very happy to see each other. 

This morning I had my chiropractor appointment. 

And then a quick trip to the supermarket. 

My parcels that I ordered way before Christmas finally turned up while I was away.

On Our Way Home.......

Jacob and I have had a long day......

Train and bus to Melbourne and a plane to Darwin. 

We get into Darwin at around midnight......I'm glad we are catching up hours not losing them. 

We are both tired. 

I've had a good time seeing mum and a few people I've bumped into. 

Our next visit will be longer.....

I'm writing this in the plane and will press publish when we land. 

I've basted more hexies.......

Today was full of jobs I had to do before going home. 

Estate agents.

Tickets to Melbourne. 

Shopping for snacks for the trip home.......got to have those.

Sunday Stitching.......

Today mum and I went to Swan Hill to stitch at Kylie's house. 

Janette joined in.....so it was just the 4 of us. 

I forgot to take photos of what was done so I will post pictures tomorrow. 

Then we went to see Jacob at his aunt and uncles house. 

He really wants to go home ......but he will just have to wait a few days. 

Then we called in to see my brother. 

We will see him tomorrow as we are going to to out for tea.

More Travelling.........

Mum and I arrived at her place safely. 

It was really cold this morning...... I had trackies and jumper on......

On our way through Murray Bridge we stopped to get some drinks for our journey and the temperature was this....

We Arrived.........

We have arrived safely at our destination.........

The flight was good. 

Not much to see out the windows.....lots of cloud. 

We were lucky as we had a spare seat next to us. 

I did some basting on the plane.......

Some game playing and reading too. 

My cousin picked us up and took us to lunch. 

Then to their house and then to my brothers. 

Mum has been at my brothers for a couple of days visiting them and visiting with her brother and sister and a couple of my cousins. 

It was really good to see mum too. 

We have a 5 1/2 hour drive tomorrow to get to mums. 

So I had better get some sleep.......
