I was going to quilt today , but got called into work for a 6 hour shift.
Lucky I had had my breakfast already.....

Work was really busy too which was great.

Tonight I have been stitching hexies.......only one row left to stitch , then on to joining the rows.

I hope I get to sew tomorrow.

A Working Day.......

Today was busy with chores and work.
I'm glad work was busy.......
I don't like being bored.

The car had a service.....I'm glad it doesn't need one of those to often.
I'm extremely happy nothing needed doing to it......or I may have died on the spot looking at the bill.

I had to go shopping for DH after I picked up the car......he is going camping with mates for a few days so he needed some food.
So it's just me and the boys..........
Zachary will go out Friday night and stay.
Jacob doesn't like camping and I have to work.

The school holidays are over and it's back to school tomorrow.
I'm not sure who will have more trouble getting up in the morning me or Zachary.

No sewing today........I caught up on some 'Bones'

Can You See It.........

I think yesterday did DH and I in.
Not that much was done today.

This morning DH and I took Grandma to town for some much needed shopping.

DH did unload the trailer of it's load all over the roses.......and we pulled out some old vegieplants.
I did get my knees dirty kneeling in the dirt finding bulbs that DH was digging up.
We dismantled a little bulb garden.....so now I have 2 ten litre buckets of bulbs.

Out the front I encounted this little creature..........can you see him ?

He blends in well.......

A Frilled Neck Lizard

 I coaxed him out into the sunshine.

The mesh for the cementing all in place........

And for the big slab.....which I'm not looking forward to doing ( don't tell DH )

Wash Day........And Stuff

I thought I would show some quilty love today , as I haven't posted anything quilt related for a while.

It was wash time for this quilt as the boys had been using it.
I made it a very long time ago......
There was a 'picture only' of it in a 'Lady's Circle Patchwork Quilts' magazine and I really liked it so I drafted it up.
Mum made one with a black floral print , pink and cream and it is stunning.
I also washed DH's little trip around the world.

DH and I have had a really busy day......
DH finished shoveling the sand into the hollow of the pizza oven / bbq.
Then we put in the cementing mesh......so it's ready to go.
We set up the frame and mesh for the next slab of concrete that is going down next to the other.

I forgot to take a photo of it with the mesh.

We have finally filled the skip bin.......
We sure shifted some stuff today.

We took a trailer load of garden rubbish out to DH's old workplace to put in their burning pit and brought home a load of horse manure for the garden.

After we washed of the layer of dust ( we did earn our showers ) we drove to town to get tea.

Busy Busy..........

We have had a productive day......cleaning , again.

Today it was the kitchen and Zachary's room.
DH thought I was a hoarder.......but Zachary is far worse.
His room is now less cluttered , clean and rearranged.

4 loads of washing was done too.

We had a few rests in between.
And we didn't work to hard.............

No sewing today.

Australia Day 2013

I hope everyone has had a very nice Australia Day......
The weather was glorious......beautiful blue skies.

DH and I finished the last layer of bricks on the pizza oven.
There is still some sand to go in.....so we have a base for the concrete.
Then it's on to building the oven.

We are very slowly getting there.

DH and I did our morning walk.....another 4 laps.

Zachary helped me make sausage rolls for tea.
And I also made rice pudding.......I'm bad!!

No sewing as yet today.

We are watching the T20 cricket match.

A Long Day........

DH and I drove to Melbourne and back home safely today.

We may have missed our morning walk ........... but we sure made up for it on the streets of the city.
I think we may have walked further than we usually do.

I did sew today while waiting for DH , who had an appointment.

I'm making another hexie bag ........
It will be for my brothers girlfriend.

We think a million mice are dead in our wall between the kitchen and the back room.......OMG.
It is really bad.
I have moth ball flakes scattered everywhere.

We didn't pick up the eggs........

It's Been...........

........another hot one.

DH and I made it around the trotting track 4 times this morning.
I was feeling ok at the end of lap 3 so we did another.

A very pesky mouse has died somewhere near our back room.
Today we pulled the room to pieces and no mouse......but it still smells like dead mouse.
I hope the smell goes away soon.

We drove Jacob to a friends house for the day.

When we got home we cleaned and rearranged his room.
More stuff for the skip bin.......
Zachary's room is next on the hit list.

DH and I are off to Melbourne tomorrow.......so I'm off to bed as it will be an early start.

No sewing today......too busy.

DH arrived home safely.

I picked up Zachary's school books as school goes back next week.

I had to work an extra hour today that I didn't know about.
And work was busy....so that makes for a happy me.

The supermarket was a crazy place , people everywhere.

A No Sew Day..........

I like the busy rush of Tuesday at work but not the 6 hours of standing in one spot.
It was so nice to put my feet up when I got home.......

DH is having a good time.
They spent the day along the Great Ocean Rd........ fishing and sight seeing.
They went as far as Apollo Bay and back to Geelong through the Otway ranges.

I ran into two friends today before I started work , one was  Kylie and the other was Elaine who I haven't seen for a long while.

I didn't sew today......

New Acquisitions

It is exactly 3.8 kms from our house to the trotting track and around the trotting track 3 times and back to our house.
It takes us 40 minutes.........
We are bound to lose weight if we keep it up and eat healthy.........right?

DH went to Geelong today with a work mate who had to pick up a caravan........they are having a little holiday and will be home Wednesday.
It may be a long trip home......

So it's just me and my boys..........oh,  and Grandma of course !

Work was a much busier affair today , which I prefer.

After work I went down the street to the newsagent and bought some new magazines for my ever expanding bookcase......lol.
Quilt Mania and the newest American Patchwork and Quilting.
Also I wondered through Target and bought a new book to read.......I'm bad !!

No sewing today either but I did sort out the sewing order for some hexie's that will become a bag for my brothers girlfriend.

Still Cleaning.........

It was another cool morning today........but it soon warmed up.

I did not have a very busy day at work......I think all the regulars are away on school holidays.

DH and I have had a busy afternoon cleaning up.
Stuff is still going in rubbish bags......

After..........

...........a cool morning ( which was nice ) it got quite warm this afternoon.

DH did more clearing of junk while I was at work.
I tried to help when I got home.......
Grandma made us afternoon tea so we had a break.....then it was time to pick up Jacob from his friends house ( over half an hour away )

After our healthy veggie slice for tea , and after it had settled in our bellies we went for our walk............I struggled for the last lap , but I pushed through the pain.

No sewing today either........

Clean Up.........

DH and I walked another 3 laps of the trotting track this morning.
My Achilles did hold up which was good.

We have started a clean up and are cleaning out cupboards and generally getting rid of stuff that we have been hoarding or haven't used for years.
I think it needs to be done every once in a while.

We watched the very poor effort of the Australian cricket team today in between cleaning.
And we watched some of the Australian Open too.

No sewing today.......but I did look through some quilt magazines.

Scorching Hot.........

DH and I have started a health kick.
He is on holidays , so we are going to walk each day and we are going to eat healthy......try to lose a few kilos.......lol.
So........this morning we walked down to the trotting track and walked 3 laps.
10 minutes each lap.......not to sure how my Achilles will feel like tomorrow but I will keep doing it even if it kills me.

DH and I did some things outside until it got too hot , then after lunch we went to Swan Hill to do a few errands.

We went back to Swan Hill for tea , to DH's brothers new house they have just moved into.
We had a great night and it was the first time we had seen the house too.

No sewing today......

I did read 2 chapters of the book I'm currently reading.

Different Stuff Day........

I went to town today to do a few jobs and some grocery shopping.

DH was awake when I got home and we washed and vacuumed the car.

Our nephew came over to spend some time with his cousins..........x-box playing and table tennis.

Today was our Sunday sewing day.
We always have a great day.

And it has ( rained ) well drizzled most of the day......
But it has washed the dust off everything and freshened up the garden.

I finished sewing the raggy quilt together too......
Now I just have to do the clipping.

A little while ago I put together 2 kits for a BOM.
Angela has powered through hers and today brought it for show and tell.

I put them together using frabrics from 'Bonnie and Camille' .
Mostly 'Vintage Modern' and 'Marmalade' ranges.
It is just beautiful......

Saturday Sewing........

I did manage to get the backing made for my Tile quilt.

It's using the same fabrics as the top........ " Fresh Cottons " by Fig Tree Quilts.

While DH was sleeping tonight before work , I stitched a little on my hexie's........as I was watching    ' Bones '
 I have so many episodes recorded , it's about the only time I get to watch them as sport is usually being watched.

I will have to go back in time to see what number hexie this will be.

Mum finished the block she started yesterday and 2 others........only 1 block to go !!!

It's A Top.......

.......finally.

After appliqueing the last 8 blocks and sewing the last 12 blocks together my quilt top is all finished.
I haven't had a sewing session like that for quite a while.

I hope to get the backing done tomorrow.

Time In The Garden........

Today Grandma and I worked out in the garden for a while.

Then Mum came over just before lunch and we bound my huge Trip Aroung the World quilt.

Then I appliqued 4 more blocks.......

Cooler Weather........

A cool change...........so nice !

Tired Tuesday........

It was very nice to have a sleep-in this morning.
But it didn't help ......... I have been tired all day.
And work was boring again......not busy enough for me.

I finished the last 2 chapters of the book I was reading , when I finally got to sit down in my comfy chair.
( my feet are killing me )

DH is on nightshift again......so it's tip toeing around for a week now.

It hasn't been as hot today ...... but the wind !
At least the wind has brought a cool change.

Too Hot ............

Another 44 degrees today........
There's no chance that the A/C will be turned off tonight.

Work was very busy....which was good.

Too hot to do anything......we have had a lazy afternoon.

Bowls Anyone.........

It was a very slow Sunday morning at work.
Nearly bordered on boring.

DH and I joined quite a few of his work mates in an afternoon of lawn bowls.
We had a fun time......
I met some people that I hadn't met before , so I can put a few faces to names now.
Whoever said bowls was easy , hasn't played it.
Lol......

Another very hot day too.

No sewing done today either.

The eggs weren't picked up tonight......oops !

It Used To Be .......

What a bloody palaver.

What is blogger thinking.........?

Loading photo's was a very simple thing to do.
I suppose I will get used to it.

Work was fairly busy......the heat didn't stop people being out and about.

When I got home I finished the 2 blocks that needed appliqueing and sewed the 6 blocks together.



So 2/3 of the quilt top is done.
I have 12 blocks left to go.

Mum's pink , brown and cream logcabin was the quilt to get bound today.

Only my huge trip around the world quilt left to bind.

A top of 44 degrees today.......
It was 62 degrees in the glasshouse ( we have nothing growing in there )

The girls are feeling the heat.....

A Sizzler.........

Blogger is being a very big pain.......
It has taken me nearly an hour to find a way to load these photo's.
If one presses enough buttons something is bound to go right !

I sewed another row together and added it to the other 2 rows ....... so now half of the top is together.

More Binding........

Another quilt has been bound today.....
That leaves 4 left to finish.

Mum's logcabin was the lucky one to get done .

The 4 bindings  for the 4 quilts left.
Mum made 3 of them and I made 1.

Mum also made another pineapple block too.

I appliqued 2 blocks today too.
I have also started to sew the blocks together.
2 rows are together.

I didn't hexie sew today.

It was hot..........
Zachary and Jacob went to the pool.......I was happy under the A/C.

Basting.......

Basting is sort of sewing......so I did some sewing today...lol.

I haven't made a hexie for so long , I have forgotten what number I'm up to.
I just might get it done in the next couple of days.....
I will also try to do more applique.

I worked this afternoon.....there are still a few holiday makers around and the paddlers from the Murray River marathon.
So work was very steady.

Hello 2013.......

HAPPY NEW YEAR ........

I hope everyone has a happy , safe  and stitchy 2013.

Summer is raising it's very warm head.....
I'm not looking forward to the weekend and next week.....looks like 40+ degrees for a week !
Thank god for A/C.....

We just hung around the house today ( after we got up very late )

Grandma cooked some turkey legs and made some salads so we had a sit down lunch for New Years before DH went to work.

Mum came over after tea and I bound the other nephews quilt for her.
She has nearly finished binding the first one.

I have basted a few more hexie's.....about time I did more hexie sewing.
