It..........

........rained all night !!
We only measured 5mm but I won't complain.

I finished the second curtain for the front glass sliding door.
So then that let me do some pleasure sewing.

I finished block 7 of my scrappy trips.

I sewed 6 strip sets together.

The next 3 to sew together.

Mum helped me baste the granny square quilt.
I hope to quilt it tomorrow.

The pink version of Jemma's quilt.
Mum brought it around so I could take a photo.

And the last few inches and..........

......It's a top !!
Mum  finished it this afternoon.

DH and I did our walk this afternoon , with a detour up to the shop....and I mean up !
Up hill........that is.

A Couple Of Finishes..........

The rain is falling softly.........so nice.
With what I can see on the radar it may rain all night.

Today I finished making the bathroom curtain.
And made one of two curtains for the front sliding door.......( we are getting rid of the vertical blinds )
And I finished the binding !!
But I still have 3 to do.

Mum has finished all her scrappy trip blocks........I forgot to take a photo......I promise there will be one tomorrow.

DH and I walked up to the post office to get the mail after the boys got home from school as well as walking our laps this morning.
We also played table tennis for half an hour........we may be getting fitter......lol........I definitely feel better anyway.

Progress.........

.........well a start anyway.

After deciding how and what we were going to build , we got to working.
We were lucky we had wood scraps laying around so we could make templates.........lol.
Sounds a bit like quilting talk.
It's a start........and we will do some every afternoon after DH wakes up from his sleep ( nightshift again ) weather permitting !
We had more rain overnight......not a lot but it has freshened things up.

I am on the last side of the binding.....about 30" left.
I have 3 more in the queue......just waiting !!

I caught up on some 'Bones' while I was binding ......... DH was having a sleep before work , so it was my T.V for a change.

Rain..........!

We have finally had some rain.......
Not much but it was very welcome.

After our walk DH went to Tooleybuc for a game of golf with some friends.
While I did some housework and had a visit with Grandma.

I was sewing binding while Grandma was chatting away........
Only a side and a half to go.

These are all Mums scrappy trip blocks.
Only 9 to go........

I finished a book and started another........the second in the 'Inferno Club' series by Gaelen Foley.
I just can't help myself.......

It's raining again.....it sounds so nice on the roof.

Sunday Sewing Day.........

It was a small gathering today with only Kylie , Janette and Mum.
Oh , and me of course !

Mum set Janette on the right path with the strip set sewing of a queen size Trip around the World quilt that she is making for a present.
It's very pretty......I forgot to take photos.
Kylie was hexie sewing...........
Mum was flying through her scrappy trip blocks and finished 8 of them ( sorry no photos )
I finished some quilting and then I cut out fabrics for 2 diamond hexie blocks and basted one of them.

My cousins left after lunch.....it was great to see them again.
Grandma would have liked them to stay longer but there is not much to do around here.

Tonight we went to DH's brothers for tea.......it was a birthday tea for his brother.......we had to leave as the mozzies were having a field day.

Oops no eggs tonight.

Fun Night.........

Mum came walking with me this morning......DH had to start work early.

I drove Jacob out to Ultima so he could spend the day with his girlfriend and I detoured into Swan Hill on the way back to get fuel and get some cream for the sponge Grandma made.

Grandma and I made a heap of salads for our BBQ tea.
We had way too much food ( as usual )
Mum and Bruce , my brother and one of his boys and my cousins were all here for tea.
The kids played table tennis and had their music up very loud ( you know the stuff.......banging bass and lyrics that you can't understand )
But they had fun........
The grown ups were having a ball inside taking funny pictures on the iPad of each other with twisted up faces , long faces , squares faces and we even looked like aliens........we were laughing so hard.

No sewing today.........I did read some though.

Visitors.........

DH and I went to Swan Hill this morning for an appointment........we also did some window shopping.

My cousin and his wife arrived at 2pm......Grandma was happy to see them.
It has been about a year since we saw them.........time goes by very fast.
They are staying for a few days.

DH missed out on a very nice dinner and conversation at Grandma's...........we were squashed in like sardines , but it was great.
My brother called around just as we finished dinner and stayed for a bit.

My washing machine works............thank god!

No sewing today.........I squeezed in some reading.

A Busy Day........

Today started with our walk.....
Then after breakfast DH took all the light fittings down and I washed them and he put them back.
They were very dusty.......tonight there are very pretty patterns on the ceiling.

DH picked up the washing machine on his way to work.......they said there was nothing wrong with it.
It had better work for me when I start washing.

This afternoon I took Grandma to the doctor and then we did some grocery shopping.......my cousin and his wife are coming up tomorrow to visit , so some extra food was needed.

Tonight I have caught up on some 'Bones'

No sewing today.

It's...........

............still hot and a bit stormy looking tonight.........

We thought we would be walking in the rain this morning but all we got were a few spots......

DH and I got stuck into cleaning and tidying up before I had to get ready for work.

Work was busy for only 1 1/2 hours of my 6 hour shift.........the council are doing road works.
There are roads that are blocked off and people don't know if they can get through and to the petrol station.
I think more cars cut through to get to the other street than actually stopped to get fuel.

DH cooked us a beautiful dinner ( I'm a lucky girl ) it was all ready when I got home.

No sewing today.
Or reading either........

Still Binding.........

Mum came walking with me this morning........it was an early and quick one as I had to get to school for something before I had to go to work.

It has been another warm day.

As I was home alone until the boys got home from school I did some reading........

Tonight I have been binding the four patch.

Slow Sunday..........

All the anchoring and binding has been done.

Now to do the blocks......

Mum came over for 2 hours and finished her strip sets for the scrappy trips.

And crossed cut quite a few of them ready to sew.

It has turned very hot again.......37 degrees today.

Work was very slow.......it started to get busy when I finished for the day.

Tonight I have been binding.......it's about time I started this one.
I will be binding for a while as I have 3 in line ready to stitch after this one.

The eggs wern't picked up tonight......

Some Sewing On Saturday........

As I work only every other weekend I hadn't realised how dark it has got in the morning......I had to check the time on my phone to see if it was the right time.
I even had to turn the lights on on the forecourt so people would know we were open.

Work was not busy..........so the windows are very clean.

I cut DH's hair when I got home............

I have done all the anchoring quilting on the tile quilt , then I plan to bind it before quilting the blocks......the binding is all made........that will be tomorrow's job.

Mum has 12 strip sets ready to cross cut for her scrappy trips.

Jacob is staying over at a friends tonight and Zachary has a friend staying here........it is very quiet at the moment.

Quilting........

Today it tried to rain......

On the sewing front.........
I started to quilt my tile quilt.

And Mum made 7 more scrappy trips.

Binding..........

As DH went to work early , Mum came walking with me this morning.

I did get the pinwheel quilt quilted and bound.......

And I trimmed and bound the other quilt that just came back from the LAQ......it's the same as Jemma's quilt , but pink !

Mum has been busy stitching the scrappy trips.......
Twelve blocks finished and many strip sets sewn as well as some ready to stitch back together.

I also made one of the bathroom curtains.

A Little Rain........

Today ended with thunder , lightning and some rain........not much , but some!!
And it has cooled down too.

Work was busy......yay !
The 6 1/2 hours went quicker than I thought they would.....which is even better.

It has been very quiet tonight as DH is at work......Jacob stayed at a friends house ( as there is no school tomorrow ) ........ Zachary is being antisocial ( towards me ) not the friends he is playing with on the x-box ......so it's just me and the T.V.
Three episodes of 'Bones' have been watched.

No sewing tonight.
But I hope to finish the quilting on the pinwheel quilt tomorrow and bind it too.

Getting Stuff Done..........

As promised a photo of Jemma's quilt.

All bound and ready to give to her tomorrow.
Mum couldn't work on it yesterday as she was looking after her..........but finished it this morning.

Mum came over when DH went to work and she sewed quite a few strip sets for the scrappy trips and added one more block.

I love these fabrics.......
I think it should still look good even if Mum is only using 15 fabrics.

Mum helped me trim a lace curtain so I can hem the top.
It will be for the bathroom.

I have nearly finished the quilting on the pinwheel quilt.
Just one diagonal way left to go.
I will get back to it on Thursday.
Tomorrow will be a very long day.....I have to go to work 2 1/2 hours early as the area manager has meetings with our manager , so I will be filling in for her.

DH put the new wood on the front steps before he went to work......they have been very bouncy for a while and one step broke a while back and the other day I went right through one and really hurt my shin.......I still have a bruise.
This new wood is 2" thick ..........no chance of going through it now !!

Two Trips To Town..........

Today we spent mostly in Swan Hill.
Firstly a meeting at school for Jacob who has decided to go back to mainstream school.
 ( thank GOD ! )
He starts on Wednesday.
We spent a bit of time getting supplies for his classes.

We came home to drop Jacob off and and load up the washing machine to go to the ( doctor ) and I really hope it can be fixed.
We also measured up the windows so we could buy brackets and rods to hang some curtains ( that I still have to make )
DH had a doctors appointment too.

When we finally got home we had the couldn't be bothereds so we watched another movie.......the new Karate Kid movie........it's a long movie too.

No sewing today.......
I finished my book.

Movie Night........

Our walk was very pleasant this morning.....a lovely breeze to blow away the flies.

After breakfast we drove Jacob to town to pick up his girlfriend.......then we got stuck into the bathroom.
All the trim has been put back on and all the caulking has been done.
Now its up to me to make a new curtain.

After lunch we did some work on an old kitchen dresser that belonged to my Grandma........years ago I stripped it back and painted it.
It needs an update......it has lived in the shed for a very long time.
I hope to stain some of it and paint the rest.

We have just been watching the cricket and a couple movies tonight......'Happy Gilmore' and 'How To Train Your Dragon'....... totally different I know......

No sewing today.........I did read a couple chapters of the book I'm reading.

Getting Closer........

After our walk this morning DH and I got stuck into more cementing.

The top has all been filled in.
So we now have the base on which to build the oven.

We took our ducks to DH's mums today so they can live with more duck friends.

Tonight DH's brother and family came for tea.........it's great that the kids are older now , it makes for lively dinner conversation.

No sewing today........I fitted in some reading though , in-between.

Some Sewing And A Birthday.........

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my darling DH........

He ordered pizza for tea and I made a cheesecake for sweets.
We only had a quiet night in watching the cricket.

This is the pinwheel quilt I have been quilting.........

I have only the diagonal quilting to go.

I forgot to take a photo of Jemma's quilt that we trimmed and bound today.
I will take a photo when Mum finishes the binding.

Mum also started sewing her scrappy trip blocks..
Mum is only using 15 fabrics from a small range by Kaye England.

And a finished picture of the granny square top with borders.

The Easter Lillies ( Belladonna ) are finally coming up......I thought they had died as we haven't had any rain.
They are forecasting thundery showers for tonight ........fingers crossed !!

DH passed his first aid course.

I Got Some Sewing In........

I got to have a sewing day with Mum ..........

My tile quilt is basted and ready to quilt.
I'm another step closer.......

Mum put the last of the borders on the granny square quilt.
Then she pieced together the backing with leftover squares turned into nine patches , some of the background and the leftover of the blue from the binding.
And she started to cut out strips for a scrappy trip......

I dug out my scrappy trip blocks to have a look at.
It will be 72" x 96" when finshed......I ran out of pink fabrics so I can't make it any bigger.
I have them all in their groups of 6 ready to sew..........one day !

I have started the quilting on the pinwheel quilt that has been waiting patiently.......

It was another lovely hot day......lol.

A Hot One........

DH and I see a lot of bird life on our walks.......the Kookaburras laugh at us every morning.
It's true what they say about mornings ( and I'm not a morning person )

The bathroom is all painted.....hopefully on the weekend it will be finished.

Work was busy.......and I think the heat got to my feet today ( I wish I had a seat at work )

It was a glorious 40 degrees today..........

No sewing today.
I have been reading , as well as watching the cricket.

Painting.......

DH and I did our 4 laps this morning......I really struggle with the last , every step hurts.
Hopefully it will get easier......

DH has put the first coat of paint on in the bathroom.
It looks great.
I couldn't help as I was working.

DH was at bowls when I got home so I watched some 'Bones' while using my foot massager.
I really love that thing......

No sewing today.
Hopefully Thursday and Friday I can sew as DH is booked in for a first aid course.......that way I wont feel guilty

Some Stitching........

Work again today..........and it was busy too......

When I got home the house smelt like paint.
DH started work on the bathroom.
He washed the walls and ceiling.....taped it all up...... painted the undercoat........and made sure all the skirting boards fit where that should.
So it will be finished soon.
I still have to make a curtain for the bathroom too.

DH made his chicken and corn soup and I made steak and vegies for tea.

I have sewn the last row together for the bag and have started stitching the rows together.

I'm using a very old Fig Tree Quilts range.......I had a few charm packs stashed in the cupboard.

Party Time........

I needed my cardigan again this morning.........
Work was steady , but not as busy as I would have liked........but it was Sunday.

I came straight home and 5 minutes later DH and Zachary got home.
I had a quick bite to eat and a shower before Mum picked me up to go back to town for a 4 year old Birthday party.
My brothers girlfriends little girl turns 4 in a 10 days but they had the party today.
A pool party at the Leisure Centre.....and no I didn't go swimming !

We have just been watching the cricket tonight and Australia just won against the West Indies.

No sewing today........I finished the last 2 chapters of the latest book I was reading.

Bound.........

What a chilly start to the day.
I even had to put my cardigan on....!
Work was really busy , which I like.

DH and Zachary are having fun fishing.
They caught a catfish today and a turtle......both went back in the water.

This afternoon Mum came over and she made 3 lots of bindings and started on the borders of the granny square quilt.

I made the binding and bound the quilt I quilted yesterday.
So I have another for the hand stitching pile......

The 2 red ones are for 2 quilts that have just been quilted , they should arrive this week........so I have 2 more quilts to bind.

I Got To Sew..........!

Remember these blocks...........

Well.......Mum came over today and sewed them together.
We decided to not sash the blocks and just joined them block to block.
Mum will border it tomorrow and maybe make the backing.

And I finally got around to quilting this......

It's trimmed and ready to bind.

After work tomorrow I will bind it.

Grandma came for a ride to take Zachary out to the camp and we stayed a while and sat around the campfire.
It hasn't been very warm today.......and the wind has been terrible.

I forgot to get the eggs.......ooops !
