No.61

I just scraped in for a finish......so I can say I finished a hexie for this month.
Lol....
September was a hexieless month.

 Only 38 left.......
At the rate I'm stitching it's going to take me forever to finish.....
And then I will have to quilt it !!!!!!

I'm not sure if it hit 37 degrees today but I did hear 35 on the radio.
It was quite warm.....

Nearly Hot !

We have experienced a very , very warm day.
Not that it effected me , as I had goosebumps from standing under the A/C at work.
I think it was 33 degrees ( it was last I heard )
Tomorrow they are predicting 37 degrees.....won't that test us out.

I have only added one hexie this morning before I went to work.
But it will be finished tomorrow !!!
I promise.......

A Beautiful Day.......

Where has this month gone?????
This week coming is a birthday week again....
My baby brother will be 37 on Tuesday and it's Mum's birthday on Thursday , she nearly had a birthday baby.

After work , before I got to the sewing room , we had visitors......
DH's Mum dropped in for a visit , it was made short as DH was taking Zac into town to have a fly of his plane.

I did do some hexie stitching and I will finish it before the end of the month ( that gives me 2 days )
Mum called in too and made another pineapple block......that makes 5 !

It has been a very warm day.....and that pesky sun is just high enough in the morning to be very annoying to my sensitive eyes.

Still Bricklaying.......

Here is a happy Zachary......

With his plane all back together.

Zac didn't send me a photo of his plane in 10 pieces so I cannot show you the mangled wreck !
Now he has to wait for the wind to disappear.

After work this morning......DH and I laid 2 more layers of bricks.
We are slowly getting there.

I can barely move......!!
The hot bath helped a little though.

No sewing today......no time.
Maybe after work tomorrow.

Busy...Busy...Busy...!

DH and I met up in Swan Hill this morning to do some container shopping.
Containers for storing books that the boys don't read anymore......and toys as well.
They will be put away for our grandkids...if we get any!!
We are trying to declutter the house too.
Why do we keep stuff ?????

I worked another long shift today and didn't get home until nearly 7pm.
A very busy day too.....
Every man and his dog was in town for market day.

DH and Zachary finished putting Zac's plane together tonight as I picked up the parcel ( new wings ) from the post office on my way to work.
So I have a happy boy again.
I will post photo's tomorrow of the before and after.......

No sewing today.

A Few Stitches.....

DH and I made it to Melbourne and back home safely.

He only had to wait for 10 minutes and then the procedure only took 15 minutes , so I didn't get many hexie's sewn.

We stopped at Bendigo on the way home for a break and a walk around.

A Working Day....

Today was spent at work !!
It was a long day.....

No sewing today either....I will get some hexie sewing done tomorrow while waiting for DH when he has his procedure.
We have to go to Melbourne again , so another long day and longer still for DH as he can't have anything to eat from midnight.

So it's an early night tonight.
And an early morning tomorrow.

Purse Making Again.....

On Sunday I was given the task of making a few purses for a friend.
I had the purse cut out and ready to go and Natalie saw it and wanted it.
So today I had a few hours sewing time and sewed it up and glued it too.

It is a 90mm frame.

It is made with the leftovers from my Ohio Star quilt.

Mum has made another pineapple block.....so that makes 4.

One of our beautiful roses.

And this pretty purple one too.......

I took Jacob into McDonalds for his orientation day this afternoon.
He has his uniform.....and he starts his training next Wednesday.
Fingers crossed !!!

More Bricks.......

This morning DH and I did more brick laying.
Then after I got home from town ( Grandma had a doctors appointment ) we did some more....
We have finished 3 whole layers and started on the 4th.
It is very far from perfect , but it will do for what we want it for.
DH is laying the bricks and I'm laying the mortar and handing him the bricks....we make a pretty good team.
I'm not as sore today....lol.
We won't be able to get back to it until Friday as DH has 2 days at work and then Thursday he has an appointment in Melbourne.

It has been another glorious day.....

It has been another no sew day for me.

I can't believe all the flowers on this cactus.

I thought something a bit different than roses for today......

Friends.......

Today some special friends came to sew with me.
Two of them were a surprise !
Thanks Natalie and Ange , it made my day.
Kylie also came and we all had a great time.

Mum got busy and sewed 2 more pineapple blocks.

I basted more of my 2" hexies for my bed quilt.
And basted another Diamond hexie block.
And we all did quite a bit of talking.

Kylie was sewing borders on a round robin quilt.
Natalie was buttonhole stitching some applique.
And Ange was embroidering.

We Have Started........

Today turned out to be the day we started the brick work on the pizza oven.

We have never done any bricklaying before.
It is far from perfect....but believe me when I say it will not fall apart !
Our backs are aching and our knees are sore.....
And my poor hands...they are all rough now.
I will have to wear gloves next time.
We have the whole first layer down and part of the second and we didn't start until after lunch.
We are also building in the BBQ too.
I think it is going to take us a while to build this thing !!

I got sunburnt today......t'was a beautiful day and quite warm , but a nice breeze was blowing too.

No sewing today.

Spring Cleaning......Again !

Spring cleaning again today !!
DH and I were cleaning out the shed ( not mine )
We thought it was time to get strong and get rid of stuff and not hoard things.
So we started a fire and burnt quite a lot of old boxes and off cuts of wood from projects we have done.
We will hire a skip bin one day too to remove all the stuff that can't be burnt.

DH had a doctors appointment this afternoon so we went in early so Jacob could open up a bank account.
I went into the doctors with DH and asked about my foot ( I will be having an x-ray next week some time )

The weather has really warmed up....it was a little taste a Summer today.

No sewing today.

A New Start And Nearly A Finish

This is what one of my cutting mats looks like.
Mum has been cutting up a storm....

These are all the outer triangles and centre squares for her pineapple blocks.

Mum has been collecting blues for a very long time , just for this project.

After a slow start , Mum finally got the hang of it.

And the finished first block.
35 blocks to go........lol.
It's what Mum said when she finished the first block !!

So now I'm up to the sewing it together part.

Zachary's plane body was delivered today , so he is happy !!
Now it's all the transferring of the inner works to the new one.....

We have had a glorious Spring day today !

I did sneak out to the sewing room after work.........

He Got A Job.......

Today was a mixed bag in the weather department.
A heavy downpour just before I took Zach to the bus.
It was overcast most of the day but warmish.........and the wind won't go away.
And it's cold now.

It was really busy today at work....very strange for a Tuesday.

DH took Jacob to Swan Hill for a job interview at Mc Donalds......and he got a job.
He starts next week.
Now we will be very busy driving him to and from work.

DH made chicken and corn soup for tea......he makes the best soup.

No sewing today.

A Warm One...........

Work again today......

I called in to Kylie's after work to drop off some eggs.
She has just finished a very , very huge quilt.

DH got online and found Zachary a body for his plane.......so at least now it can be repaired.

No sewing today ..... again !!!
I have been reading ........

We have one lonely little chick that has hatched out in the incubator......I hope more hatch out over night.

It has been a warm windy day........they say we are to get thunder storms.

Partying......

I was up early again today for work.
As it was Sunday it wasn't very busy.....but it gave me time to get what needed doing done.

I had a linen party to go to after work and I picked up mum on my way there.
I was a bit naughty......
I bought something that we have wanted for many years.....a woolen underlay.
I know Summer is on the way but it is reversible.

I still haven't caught up with the washing......2 more loads today.

Zachary was home when I got back from the party and his plane is in about 10 pieces.
But his wasn't the only one.
Some very spectacular crashes I have been told.
Some little thing fell off the wing of his plane and he lost all control.
He wouldn't let me take a photo......
He is able to buy a new body to rebuild it.....which is good.

No sewing today......too busy !!

A Quiet Saturday

It was just work again today....

Some washing when I got home.

We watched a movie when DH got up from his sleep.

And we made pizza for tea.

Zachary is having a great time.....I'm not sure if he has flown his plane yet.
But he is enjoying watching everyone.

No sewing today either.
I'm bad !!

Just A Working Day

As I only went to work today and have done nothing creative.....I will show what is growing in our garden.

This rose bush lives under Grandma's bedroom window.
I took this photo this morning.........they seem to have survived the heavy rain.

Zachary has gone with his uncle and cousin to camp out at the flying club (model planes ) as it is their weekend get together.
I hope it isn't too windy for him to fly his plane.......and I hope he has fun!!

I have been reading again tonight while DH was sleeping.

A Blast From The South Pole

Today has been bitterly cold.
Lots of rain this afternoon and overnight as well.
I hope it's warmer tomorrow

I spent most of the day out in the shed.
Mum came over and finished the last 2 blocks of the granny square quilt.
And I added 2 more blocks to my quilt too.

Mum started cutting out fabrics for her pineapple quilt.....she is using different blues and shirtings.
She has been collecting for a while.
I also started basting hexies for another bag.....my brothers girlfriend loves the bag so we will make her one.
I also cut out the purse fronts and the linings.....to finish another day.

The eggs weren't picked up tonight.......I wasn't getting wet !

Quietly.....

This morning was spent creeping around , as DH was sleeping.
So I quietly got ready for work.
It's a bit hard when it's nightshift week.....

My 3 boys were playing X-Box games when I got home from work.
Boys and their toys.....they really do not grow up!

No sewing today.......reading again. :)
I have tomorrow off.....so I will be quiet out in my sewing room.

A Nice day

Today was spent doing the washing and odd jobs.

DH weeded 3 garden beds and put up the new cupboard in the bathroom.

And we went into town as Jacob had a doctors appointment.

The weather is great at the moment.....a blue sky and fluffy white clouds.
It should be like that all week.....

No sewing today.......
I snuck in some reading time when DH wasn't watching.

New Phone

A couple of days a go DH's mobile phone kicked the bucket.....
So this morning we went to town to get him a new one.....we were lucky he was out of contract.
He got an updated version of the one he had.

When I went off to work he went to buy some more wood to build a cupboard and shelf for the bathroom.
He has stained all the wood for the skirting and was cutting out the cupboard when I got home.
It is all stained and ready to assemble.
So the bathroom is nearly finished.
We won't get around to the painting until DH finishes nightshift and starts his weeks holiday.

Sunday Sewing

I actually got out to my sewing room today......
I was beginning to forget what it looked like.....lol.

Mum has only 2 more blocks to go on the granny square quilt.
She told me I have to trim them all.....

And I sewed together 6 more of these.
When I have finished all 27 blocks I will have to decide which 2 will go on the back.
I have 8 more blocks left to make.

The school holidays are over......so it's back to 7am starts.
Yuck !
At least with daylight savings starting this weekend it will just be getting daylight at 7am instead of 6am.
