A Day Out

No. 26 done. Yay ! That's one less I have to do ( But I'm not counting down )
And the start of no. 27.

DH and I had a day out in town today. After our appointment at the bank we did a bit of birthday shopping for the boys. Jacob's birthday is on the 25th and Zachary's is the 29th of July. As their cousins birthday is on the 20th we try to have a family tea out somewhere all together, it makes it a bit  easier. Poor DH's mother ! 3 birthdays in 9 days is a bit much for present buying.
We went to the Federal Hotel for a $5 lunch and I would'nt know the last time we did that.
DH had to call in to do something at work so I sat in the staff kitchen and sewed my hexagons while I waited.
We did some grocery shopping and got some new dripper hose so we can plant out our potato seed tomorrow.
Hopefully it will rain on Sunday like they say.

The girls layed 5 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

Movie Night

The last day of the working week for me.
The quilt top I have been making at work is finished. Now it's a job for the quilting farmer.

I have done a little on my hexagons tonight while watching a movie (Step Up 3 ) all those moves ( Wow  ) I could watch stuff like that all day.

Maybe tomorrow I might get out in my sewing room. I don't think I know what it looks like anymore !

The girls gave us 12 eggs over the last 2 days.

Until Next Time.

No. 25

No. 25 finished.
74 more to do.
Errands, work and music lessons made up my day.
I am just lucky to have Grandma around as she made dinner tonight. I bought a cooked chicken and she did the vegies.

And I still don't know how many eggs today. I did'nt ask Grandma if she picked them up.

Until Next Time.

Winter Sunshine

No. 25 progress . What I have done tonight so far.

Another beautiful Winter day. No wonder the roses are still blooming. But yes I will have to prune them soon.

I was busy at work with customers and sewing the quilt for the Melbourne Show, it should be finished tomorrow.

And I don't know how many eggs tonight.

Until Next Time.

Smoke Gets In Your Eyes

I have finished block no. 24. The first one that I have fussy cut the outside 16 hexagons. I'm thinking that I will have to do more like this , they sure do look good.
The start of no. 25 , the outside will be pink. Maybe I will finish it after work tomorrow. LOL.

As we have to creep around the house when DH is on night shift so I sat in my comfy chair and finished no.24 this morning. Then Grandma came over and we went out to plant 3 climbing roses , 2 standard roses and 2 bush roses. It is'nt like we don't have 50 + roses already. Zac helped her plant some daisy type plants that she dug up from somewhere and I planted out a punnet of stocks.

My Brother came over for his regular hair cut, and I also cut DH'S hair as well.

The next door neighbour was burning his pile of garden clippings and whatever else he had in there today. He started burning at 10 am and the wind was swirling all over the place ( was not happy Jan ) and finally when SILLY ME thought it had all burnt away ( it was after 3pm ) I hung DH'S uniform up and all the whites and 5 minutes later there was more smoke than before.
So now the neighbour has seen me not very happy.
I called out to him over the fence and said could he put it out as I had just hung out the wash and he laughed, well I said "  it was not funny " and slamed my front door . The fire was out in 5 minutes.
I can still smell smoke it must stay in your nose.

The girls layed 6 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

Party Time

Gemma the horse . We were told that she does the morning shift on the cart that takes people around the Settlement.
The Pyap riverboat. We did'nt go for a cruise though. The last time that we went on the Pyap was for  DH's Brother's wedding  8.8.1998 nearly 13 years ago.
I could'nt imagine us four living in a little house like this and back then families had more kids than two.
Cool clothesline. And below an old water pump,  are'nt we lucky we have inside taps.

Having a ride. The Birthday Girl with friends and cousins having a grand time on the carriage ride.
And my Mum with the Birthday Girl in an old car. It also goes all over the Settlement. She had a ball and I'm sure she will sleep well.
The Mermaid Cake which was pink ( And it tasted  great )  lots of icing and blue jelly.

I did do some sewing this morning before we left for town and will do some more after dinner.

The girls layed 7 and a half eggs today. We got another little tiny one .

Until Next Time.

IT'S FRIDAY

The end of the week is here. YIPPIE.

A very busy day at work today.

The doll I made a couple weeks ago goes to it's new home tomorrow.
I think she will love it.
We are having a lunch party at The Pioneer Settlement. It's been so long since I have visited  there.

Am hoping to get out in the sewing room tomorrow I have'nt been out there all week.

The girls layed 8 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

Yummy !

Look what DH and I made for tea. 3 of them to be exact.
Now I have lunch tomorrow. Mmmm..... cold pizza.
I thought I would take a picture of todays eggs. They layed 5 and a half today. Look at that little one it is so small.
This is what I tried to post yesterday no. 23.

We have had enough rain to make everything damp. Great for the garden and the vegie patch.
It's raining softly right now. It's a pity that we can't hear it on the roof.

A good day at work , and I am still sewing that quilt.
A small drama with my missing rotary cutter that was there one minute and gone the next , but it was found finally ( thanks Kylie ) I thought it had gone to that place where things go that you never see again. LOL.

Well I am going to start no. 24 now.

Until Next Time.

WHY ?

Hello.
Well after trying 5 times to load some photos on here, I gave UP !

A lot of cutting , sewing , pressing and trimming today, but only for work .
The cold miserable day did'nt stop anyone from coming in though.

The pictures I was going to post were of my latest hexagon diamonds that are finished but that will have to wait for another day.

The girls layed 4 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

Friends

It's FREEZING ! It sure is Winter now.
Another busy day at work today. A lot of familiar faces and some new. And it is always great to see what people are making.
A lovely visit from a friend that has moved away, she popped in  because her daughter had to go to the Dentist. There is nothing like driving interstate to go to an appoitment. LOL.
It was great to see you Simone.
The boys had music lessons tonight and we decided to get  KFC for tea while we were in town. It makes for a late night if I have to start cooking tea after 7 o'clock. I will have to start using the slow cooker more and organize myself .

I finished 1 more hexagon diamond.
Total done 23 , 1 half diamond and 1 side triangle.
Only 76 diamonds to go.
I must be mad !
Oh I suppose there are worst things I could be doing .LOL.

The girls layed 6 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

Doing Nothing

A busy day at work today. Cutting fabric for an order to send away. And starting a new quilt for the shop to go to the Melbourne Craft and Quilt Fair next month. Mum  a friend and I are going down to the show on the train for the day ( a very long day ). At least on the train you don't have to concentrate like you do when you drive. I have'nt sewn today, been watching T.V .

There were 7 eggs yesterday.
And 4 eggs today.

I might have something to show tomorrow.

Until Next Time.

Sunday Sewing With Friends

I have three blocks together in my Everyday Angels Quilt. I have the same flannel on the back as in the top. I have been working on it for 2 years of and on when the mood strikes, and I know you all know what I mean.
My new pattern came and it won't be started for a while. Unless I get bored. LOL.
And the next hexagon diamond I am doing.

I had sewing today with all the Sunday girls, we always have a ball, and I think we talk more than sew. LOL.

I don't think the eggs were picked up today. I forgot to ask DH before he went to bed to get a bit of sleep before work tonight. He starts night shift tonight so I have the whole bed to myself for the next 7 days. We are starting to get used to all the odd hours with his new career.

Well I am off to watch Escape To The Country ( love all those English homes ).

Until Next Time.

Shopping

My first end diamond finished only 11 to go . I got it done after tea tonight .
The east side is done.
And I know it is Winter but look at these beautiful Roses.

And Grandma picked these yesterday for me . I know they are only Daisies but they are one of my favorite flowers. Aren't they nice !

DH and I took Zachary and his friend to Swan Hill to the skate park today. It was threatening rain but it didn't happen which was good because we went to Dick Smith and got a new T.V. and it was in the back of the ute. Now we can watch the Football with a big screen.
We also used our gift voucher that we got for Christmas and got a pie maker. Now we can use all the apples we get off the trees and make pies and freeze them.

Tomorrow is sewing with the Sunday Girls, we meet at Miss Sampsons Drapery in Swan Hill where I work.

The girls layed 3 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

Prickles In My Fingers

Well as promised here it is finished . Cut. Quilted. Sewn. Snipped. Washed. And Dried. All in that order. Phew ! And a closer view below.
Here is Zachary with a fish he caught in March after the floods. Where he is standing was all under water.
I thought I might show some of the pictures I took when we were building my sewing room. DH's brother came and helped us put the plaster on the ceiling and that is something I don't think any of us would like to do again.

The framing for my cupboard. DH hired a nail gun ( now that was fun )

We spent the morning planting out some cactus that needed seperating. Planted Grandma's Hydrangea's and a general tidy up.

The girls layed 6 eggs today.

And I made a loaf of bread in the breadmaker, which we had with butter instead of  dessert. And yes it was probably just as bad as chocolate pudding.

Until Next Time.

Finally !

It's finished. All cut. I am not doing it again for a while, it hurts to much.
This is the back. The only good thing about Raggy Quilts is that you don't have to wrestle with the machine and quilt sandwich or say some bad words. LOL.

I will take a picture tomorrow it is in the dryer at the moment.

These are the butterfly blocks I gave Mum to make this quilt for the little girl she baby-sits for her birthday.

Today I put the binding on it for Mum because she does'nt like to do it.

A close up of the Flannel Quilt I am making. These 2 blocks are together as I am quilting it as I go. Today I sewed the back of them down.

Do they need faces? I was thinking they could be like Amish dolls and not have any.

What do you think?

This is the one next to it.

Might get the next one on tomorrow.
Zac had onother ride when he got home from school, he is all better now after his  being sick.

And a beautiful cactus that flowered a couple of months ago ( I love Cactus flowers )

The girls layed 5 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

No Sewing Today

This is the first border diamond this shape. I basted it last night waiting for DH to get home from work. ( only 11 to go )

I worked today.
Then did Grandma's shopping after work.

DH had tea going when I got home, yummy roast veggies our own beans and corn from our garden and home-made chicken schnitzels. It is so nice now that the boys eat their dinner.

The girls layed 2 eggs today. I have no idea what we will do when we get 20 eggs a day !
Maybe cream puff's and eclairs,  yummy but not good for the figure !

Until Next Time.

Strike A Pose

Ginger was nearly asleep in this pose LOL
And then woke when I took the first picture ( It does'nt look very comfortable )
And what I finished last night waiting for DH to get home from work.

No music lessons tonight as Jacob's teacher cancelled due to being sick and when I got home Zachary was vomiting and nobody at home rang to tell me, so I had to cancel 30 minutes before his lesson. Oh well it saved the 20 minute trip back into town.
Lets hope it is only a 24 hour thing and I really hope I dont get it ( because I have to sit on the toilet with a bucket  )LOL sorry about that picture but it's true I have always had a week bladder.

The girls layed 3 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

Winter Jobs

The 5 logcabin blocks Mum did yesterday  ( I forgot to post ) It is using 3 sisters fabric Astor Manor. When it's finished it will have 2 borders , and as Mum has only 16 blocks left that won't be to far away.

Mum finished another 5 blocks today. Here are all 10. I have no idea how many logcabins Mum has made. Lots.

And I have been cutting and cutting ( still have'nt finished though ) it hurts my hands, so I will just do a little bit at a time.

DH and I pruned some of our fruit trees  this morning  ( peach, necterine, apricot, quince, nashi, 2 apples and 2 plums )  we still have 5 pear trees to do.

My  Brother and his Girlfriend and her two little girls came for cake and coffee before lunch so we had a good excuse to have a break. It was nice on  Grandma's Verandah in the warm Winter sun.

After  DH left for work I sewed a little , cut a little and played a little while Mum sewed on her logcabins.

The girls layed 5 eggs today.

Back to work tomorrow and Wednesday then I have to work all next week as Sue and Malcolm will be in Sydney for the Craft and Quilt Fair.

Until Next Time.
