It Has Been....

bloody freezing today !
Winter proved it was still around for it's last day.......
A few rainy patches , and the wind.....I had to chase the clothes line as the wind kept spinning it around.
You will laugh , but I always tell the wind to stop for just 5 minutes so I can hang the clothes without getting mad.....it never works though.

I have added 1 more block to my total.
Only 20 more to go.
I have most of the preparation and sewing and recutting and pressing done for the others,
I have basted the pinwheel quilt too.
So after work tomorrow I may start quilting if DH is still sleeping. ( night shift again )
I will be starting work in the morning before he finishes .

Mum is half way through another pinwheel quilt too.
We are using the same fabrics...."Domestic Bliss" from Moda.....I'm loving these fabrics !!

There will be photo's soon.

The girls laid 10 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

Another Quilt Top

With just 2 charm packs and some off white homespun Mum has made a 48"x56" Pinwheel quilt.

The fabrics are "Ruby" by Bonnie and Camille for Moda.
The colours don't show up very well in the photo though.
I may even bast it tomorrow.....need another quilt to quilt....lol.

I have started piecing another quilt too.
It is going to take a while....I've only made 4 blocks so far......need 25.

I have also joined my friend Sarah's hexie linky party......it will be every month on the 17th.
Drop by her blog and have a look.

The girls laid a dozen eggs today.

Until Next Time.

Busy Day

This morning I went to town early as I had a  list of things to do before I went to work.

Stopped to get chicken feed.
Went to the vegie store to get a cabbage for Grandma.
Filled our water machine bottle.
Went to the reject shop to get big tubs ( to pack away all the boys lego and toy cars ) we are going to go through their cupboards and do a big clean-up and throw away.
Went to the newsagent to get Grandma more puzzle books.
Stopped in to the bakery and bought some lunch and then to Bargin Box to get more thread ( I have been quilting to much ) as I was running low.

Then after work I went to Safeway to do some shopping.........we were just about out of everything.

DH and I made pizza for tea too.

No sewing today......

Been catching up with Ghost Whisperer , while DH was sleeping.

The girls laid 11 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

Another Finish

Well sort of.

I have finished quilting and attatching the binding on the blue and yellow baby quilt.

So I have quite a bit of hand sewing to do.

Mum has been  hard at it sewing pinwheels........she has nearly finished.
Then I will have another top to quilt.

My baby boy keeps asking for his next quilt.........it is a top and has been for some time.
It has a twin......Jacobs is the same too.......just haven't had the confidence to quilt them myself.
But I may just get it out ....piece the backing ( they will be different so they can tell one from the another ) and attempt to quilt them.
They are Trip around the World quilts.

Back to work tomorrow !

What a glorious day ...... it got to 21 degrees .....so nice.

The girls laid 10 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

No. 60

I have finished Diamond Hexagon no. 60......

A totally fussy cut block.
I have only 39 left to make.
Only.......

DH and I have been mucking around outside most of the day.
I helped him box up where we are going to concrete for our pizza oven.
I did some weeding too.

I also have quilted one direction on the blue and yellow baby quilt.......I will get back to it tomorrow.

The girls laid 11 eggs today.

Sunday Sewing

Today was spent with 2 great friends and Mum.

Kylie was sewing the binding down on a charity quilt from the quilt group she is now president of.

The groups charity quilt.

She stayed until the binding was finished.

Dianne was embroidering a quilt label which was an old doily.

Mum was putting together blocks for our next quilt.

And I was sewing the binding down on my quilt as well.
I managed to sew 2 sides.

I also started quilting the baby quilt.

The girls laid 14 eggs today !!
I'm still in shock.....

Until Next Time.

A Bit Of Gardening.....

The other day I promised a friend a photo of the ducks.
They have grown well and laying quite a stash of eggs.
DH is going to fire up the incubator and put some in and see how we go.

We know the white duck is a drake ( by his activities ) and the duck with the green head is a drake too.
So we ended up with 2 and 2.

We also did some gardening today.

I pruned the last 21 roses that needed pruning.
Grandma was weeding with a hoe.
( We will find her out in the garden with her toes turned up oneday )
DH finished the weeding.
He also mowed the grass ( we won't call it lawn just yet )
We also weeded the cactus garden too.
So between the rose thorns and cactus needles our fingers are sore.

Mum came over for awhile and she did some sewing and I unpicked some quilting ......only 5 rows to unpick now.
( I'm glad it's a small quilt )
Bloody machine !
I'm thinking it doesn't like having the walking foot on , because it sews without skipping stitches when I'm piecing.

DH is so much better today.....thank-you for all your concern.
He has severe GORD and a hiatus hernia , we just have to wait to see what the specialist says.

The girls laid 19 eggs over the last 2 days.

Until Next Time.

Hungry....Tired.....And Sick......

We made it to Melbourne safely.
We were 40 minutes early to DH's appointment.
We waited and waited and waited some more.

I didn't go out in sympathy and not eat because he couldn't, but we didn't know the hospital and didn't know were the cafe in the hospital was so we both had lunch at tea time.
Not that DH's tea stayed in his stomach very long.

DH couldn't drive home so that was left to me........
LOL....,
I do not cope very well in city traffic.

We missed a turn ( which isn't hard when there are 4 lanes of cars ) then my navigator ( who is being sick ) is trying to read the map on my iPhone to re-route us so we could get back on the right road.
What fun!!!!
I ran a red light ( the camera flashed ) BUGGER!!!
To cut a very long story short..... I did manage to get us home safely.
I'm very tired and could hardly keep my eyes open driving home.

We have no where to go tomorrow ... so we can sleep in.
Yay !

While waiting and waiting and waiting I sewed a few hexies.....

No egg report tonight.

Until Next Time.

Duck Weather........

Today was spent doing different things....

I took these photo's this morning just before it rained.

Then feed the chickens and ducks in the rain......

Then Mum came over and she sewed while I flittered and fluttered around....wasn't quite in the mood for anything.
But I made myself bind my quilt.
So now just the hand sewing to do.

Then off to Nyah West to the chemist and then the hardware store.......they didn't have what I wanted so they are ordering it in.
Lets just hope it's here before Fathers day !!

Then I had a made rush to the bus stop to get Zachary.......it was raining again and blowing hard enough to blow one over.

DH and I are off to the big smoke tomorrow for his appointment....not looking forward to the long day but these things can't be helped.

The girls layed 11 eggs today.
Yesterday must have agreed with them , being so nice a day.

Until Next Time.

A Taste Of Spring .....

Well , I cannot complain today about the weather.
It has been a very nice day.
No heating has been on either.
But I'm sure it will turn cold again.....
At least I got the clothes dried today !

Yesterday morning I took this photo of an Iris in our garden.

This morning ...... the same Iris.
It has about 10 or so buds coming on.

No sewing tonight .
DH and I watched a movie.....a blood and guts one.
" Arena " it was called.

Tomorrow I will get to my binding......I hope !

The girls laid 8 eggs today.
Go girls.
I may have some eggs for you on Sunday Kylie.......

Until Next Time.

A little Sneak Peek.....

As I didn't start work until 1pm I snuck out to the shed and trimmed my quilt and cut the binding strips.

Here is a sneak peek at the next quilt.....

All will be revealed soon.

More Anemones......

And more.
I like these .....

Basting.....

I know I said I would trim and bind my quilt today after work but I've had a headache all day.
So instead I've been sitting in my chair under the heater basting more hexies ( 2" ) for my quilt.

I now have a bag full.
I will just keep basting until I run out of papers.....

I will just have to bind my quilt on Thursday.

DH went for a bit of a drive today to get a trailer full of bricks.
Our pizza oven may soon be getting built.

We didn't get the eggs tonight.
DH set another broody hen , so in three weeks we may have some babies......

Until Next Time.

I did get it finished after work today.

The backing......which is a beautiful floral from "Ruby" another of Bonnie and Camille's fabrics.

I have yet to trim it but maybe tomorrow after work.
Here it is with it's sister quilt which is on folded on the chair.

I'm planning the next quilt already.....
I'm using my Ruby charm packs.

The girls laid 4 eggs today.

Still At It

It hasn't been any warmer today , even if the sun did shine.
Not much on today either.
Work early this morning , a bit of shopping after work , then after some lunch I managed to quilt a little bit more of my quilt.
I will try to finish it tomorrow.
Hopefully have pictures too.

The girls laid 6 eggs over the last 2 days.

Quilting......Raining......Freezing !!!

I have started to quilt my next quilt.
I have finished quilting it in one direction......might get to it after work tomorrow and do some more.

Next up is the blue and yellow baby quilt.....

Mum has finished quilting the christmas quilt she was quilting and got the binding on too.

Afternoon tea.......

It has been a very miserable freezing cold day.
Rain too.
I didn't quite get to the clothes line in time and the clothes are getting a rainwater rinse.
I"m glad I went to the bus stop to pick up Zachary or he would have been frozen and soaked to the skin .
He usually walks home.......

....but it looked like this outside.
I can't even get the house warm , it's that cold.

As it was raining I didn't venture out to the chook house.

Until Next Time.

It's Finished

I have finally finished sewing the backing to the front !

I managed to hang it on the line in between showers and take a few photo's.
I'm going to enjoy this quilt.

I just had to take a picture of it with the machine.
I have 2 kits available on my Etsy shop.

I have started to quilt the next jelly roll quilt too.

We have had word that DH's next visit to Melbourne is next Friday........so another long day ahead.

The girls laid 14 eggs over the last 2 days.

The daffodils are slowly flowering.

These are everywhere.......

And these are just beautiful.

Until Next Time.

It's .......

........been a very long day.
I was called into work 2 hours early as the boss had an appointment to go to.
I should get my ankle looked at ( I know I'm complaining again ) but gee wizz is it aching.

I have about 20" left of my backing to sew  down and I'm finished.
I will finish it tomorrow......my finger is a bit sore and I've put a few holes in it too.
My finger that is.

As both DH and I worked late and he met me at Safeway to do some shopping we got home in the dark ....... so the eggs were not picked up tonight.

Until Next Time.

A Clean Up......

Today was a bit of a cleaning day.
DH and I got rid of a bit of junk and a general tidy up and I vaccumed right through the house.

Also our new dining setting was delivered and the old one has found a new home out in my sewing room.

Here is the next quilt on the agenda ready for quilting.......Mum and I basted it today.

I have one side left to go around the quilt and it's finished.
So photos probably on Thursday as I'm working tomorrow.......

The girls laid 5 eggs today.

Another Lanyard

Today has been spent doing all sorts of things......

Helping DH hang a cork board above the computer desk.
More washing.....
I finished pruning the roses out the front.
( the back rose garden left to do )
Ironed DH's work uniforms.
Mum came for a visit with Gemma who she babysits on Mondays.
And when Zachary came home from school he asked if I could make him a lanyard.

So out to the shed we went....
He wanted navy blue and white and it needed to be one 5" strip longer.
So I found the fabric ( sad when you just have the right fabric on hand )
He needed it for his remote control .
It has a clip on the front for that reason I guess ( at least he won't drop it if it's hanging around his neck )
He helped me make it (kind of )
You can find the tutorial here

Tonight I have been stitching around my quilt.
I have 1 1/2 sides finished.

The girls layed 10 eggs over the last 2 days.

Pretty Hot Pink Pig Face

The Day After.....

DH let me speep-in and I woke at a quarter to 10 .....omg I haven't slept that late in a long time.
Just before lunch mum and I went back up to the hall and packed up all our stuff as we left it there and then we cleaned up after ourselves.

As I am inside and not out in my sewing room I can't tell you who designed these ( but I will tomorrow)
I think everyone enjoyed making them.
Mine is the second from the left ( it has my keys on it ) I have been using it for months now and love it.
It's great for work !

Next up !

The lucky door prize.....
Everyone's name went into a cup and Mum drew out a name and Kylie was the lucky one to win a pincushion that I made using a very lonely cup and saucer that was my Great Grandmothers.
Now it won't be stuck in a cupboard........well I hope it won't !!
Lol.......

Simone actually started and finished a quilt......
( she still needs to clip it though )

Bernadette was sewing friendship blocks together quilt as you go.....

Wendy was sewing swap blocks ......
( which were beautiful )

Natalie sewed the binding on her quilt and started to sew it down.

Kylie was sewing blocks for a wedding quilt that has been and gone months ago.....lol.
Soft and cuddly flannel......

Leonie was slowly but surely puting her horses together.....one piece at a time.
Not for this little black duck ..... but beautiful all the same.

Dawn with her applique blocks .......she was machine button hole stitching them on her new machine.

Mum quilting away........

Heather sewing her final borders on her Joy of Life quilt that she started at the shop I worked at and came once a week to learn needle turn.
I do miss teaching......

I really must quilt mine.......

This afternoon DH and I did some pruning.
I pruned the grapes ( I know it's late )
And I did some more of the roses ( and yes these are late too ) still a few to do yet.
DH was weeding and taking the clippings away for me.

I managed to wash all of his clothes after being away too and I will have to iron some in the morning as he goes back to work tomorrow..

I know the picture isn't clear but......

Look........our first daffodil.
We have jonquills everywhere as well.

I think we forgot the eggs ......

Until Next Time.

Fun Sewing Day

Today was our very first sew-a-thon !!
We had good food ( too much ) laughter and sewing.
The only time it was quiet was when we stopped for tea and everyone had their mouths full....lol.
Most everyone stayed until the end, which was good.

Everyone enjoyed their mystery project too.
I will post photos tomorrow.

The girls laid 7 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

One.....

.....more sleep to go!!

More cooking today.
If it's not enough then we go hungry.......lol.

I have taken most everything  to the venue this afternoon and set up the tables as well , lets just hope we don't overload the power and blow the fuses.
But I guess everyone won't be using their machines all the time.

My darling DH arrived home at 8pm tonight.
He was very glad to be home after 2 weeks away.

I should have lot of show and tell over the next few days......I will be taking lots of pictures!!

The girls laid 7 eggs today.

A Cooking Day

Mum and I have been cooking again today.
A few more homemade goodies for Saturday........everyone will have to go on a diet afterwards...lol.

Just the boring domestic chores today and a lot of dishes due to the cooking.

No sewing ...... no time.

We recorded 5ml of rain overnight......good for the garden , hopefully the farmers got more.

The girls have gone on strike today and laid only 3 eggs.

Until Next Time.

It's Wet Outside

It has looked like rain all day and it finally started to fall at about 1630 tonight as I finished work.
It is falling very softly but making things wet anyways....lets hope it continues.

No sewing today .... with getting tea cooked and doing some shopping after work and my ankle again , I just sat in my chair and watched T.V.

Tomorrow is a cooking day......for Saturday !!
Mum will be over to give me a hand.
I may even get Jacob to help too.....
He has not been going to school for a few weeks as we are in the process of getting him enrolled for home schooling.
He has issues that we think may improve if he is not influenced by others.
So he may be getting a few cooking lessons tomorrow.....he likes to cook so we will see.

Zachary picked up the eggs ....the girls laid 9 eggs over the last 2 days.

Until Next Time.

An Allsorts Kind Of Day

I had a good morning doing the chicken and duck feeding , checking and watering the veggies and also watering the seedlings.

DH and I usually share these jobs but he is away until Friday ...... and I may as well talk to the wall than my children , because they say they are too busy ALL the time.

I also had washing to hang before work too.

Grandma came over and was pottering inside ( she likes to iron ) and got a few clothes to take to her house  ( it also keeps her occupied ) she even made tea tonight to help out as I worked until 1900.
She made the boys tea early as Zachary has drum lessons Tuesdays and made my veggies fresh for me when I got home.......
She's a good Grandma !
Mum took Zac to town for drums for me too.
She's a good Mum .......and she has a cold too.
Love you Mum.

I think that bloody walnut I stepped on months back is going to haunt me every second Tuesday.....my ankle is killing me.
I have rubbed ice gel into it and it has helped heaps.

I was having a great time at work until the eftpos started acting up.
Then the help desk rang to tell me that the eftpos was acting up ( as if I didn't know ) and wanted me to turn something in the cupboard off then on again.
I took one look in the cupboard and said "I don't think so...."
What a crazy mess it was before I left.......
We were using the manual swipe thingy in the end.
I counted my drawer and got out of there quick ( ten minutes late to pick up Zac )

No sewing today , but I did do some hexie basting this morning too.

And it was too late when I got home to get the eggs .

Until Next Time.

Afternoon Tea

As there wasn't any school today I did manage to sleep-in until 0730.....
And I did get a good night sleep too.
I could have stayed in bed though , but as I had to go to work I had to get up.

I was naughty and bought some finger buns and we had a cuppa and a bun each when I got home.
Boys eat quite a lot......
Grandma enjoyed her bun too !

Mum and Bruce called in too ,  to drop off the rotary hoe that they borrowed.

I have been reading tonight.
No sewing......

The girls laid 6 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

So Tired .....

I feel like a zombie today.....
I have a child who is turning into an insomniac and woke me quite a few times last night , and as I can"t sleep with noise about and lights shinning , I didn't get much sleep.
We had quite a few words at 0230 and again at 0430 ( and I had to get up at 0500 )
So we are all a little on the cranky side today.

Work was good and I had a visit from a friend , who called in and got the newspaper.
See you on Saturday !!

Mum came over  after I got home and we basted a quilt ( so she has some quilting to do on Saturday )
I had another look for the missing items ......... they are still lost.

I have been basting hexies while watching the football with Grandma.

DH was actually at the football ( our team lost )
He also went to a game on Friday night with his Academy mates then went to Geelong to stay with his sister for the weekend.
He gets home Friday night.

I can sleep-in in the morning as it is a pupil free day at school.
Yippeeee  !!!!!!!

The girls laid 7 eggs today.

Lost ....

After an early start for work and a few jobs in town after work I headed out to the shed to find something that is lost.
It is still lost !
I think there is  something like the bermuda triangle out in my shed.......
Mum came to help , but no luck.

The girls laid 6 eggs today.

A Nice Day

I have it all pinned and ready to sew.

I'm very happy with how it has turned out.

A bit of a closer look.

Mum cut out the fabric for a Double Irish Chain for my brother.
She will sew it next weekend at the sew-a-thon I'm hosting on the Saturday.
12 hours of fun , food and fabric !!

I did a bit of tidying up too.

I pruned some of the roses this morning ...... it has kept Grandma happy for a while.
It was quite nice outside today in the sun.

The girls laid 5 eggs today.
