It Feels Like Spring

Wow ! Look at that sky. So beautiful and blue and it was nice and warm too.

Our potato's are all starting to make an appearance.

Now this is what DH is up to......
A lot of cutting of these IBC's

And another view.
And after we have painted some of them ( the others are painted now )

And the start of getting the foundation level for the tubs.

 And from another angle .
You are probably wondering what we are doing now.
We are building an aquaponics system. It grows vegetables and fish with recirculating water.

Zachary on his friends motorbike today.
They all swapped around riding the bike and the buggy.

A close up of  the fat 1/4's that I got at the show.

These 3 pieces I bought at Somerset Patchwork.

And the 15 pieces that I bought from Theadbare.
They will work in well for my hexagons.
I'm itching to start cutting into them and make a hexagon as soon as I can.

Mum and I had a very good day in Melbourne even if it was a long day. We had lunch over at Crown . It's good to get outside of the Exhibition Building it is so hot and airless in there.
The Quilts that were in the actual show itself were so beautiful.
I took too many pictures and I am not sure if I am allowed to post them so I will just keep them to myself. Sorry.......

Well the girls layed 12 eggs yesterday and they layed 10 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

A Day Out

Look what I brought home with me........eighteen  30cm pieces and five fat 1/4s now I have no money left.

At Studio Mio I bought bag and purse frames and Mum bought some as well with the patterns.
And this is what I really wanted to see the new quilt from Somerset.   Mrs Billings Coverlet.....and I just had to have it LOL. It is a pattern a month. The pieces are so small I really must be mad. But it is sooooo nice..........
Well DH and I got up at 5 this morning as he had to go to work and I had to get to the train so it has been a very long day. The train was on time coming home though which was good. Why does going somewhere always take longer than coming home? Mum dropped me at the gate at 10.15pm  and I just had to post some pictures tonight for show and tell.

I dont have a clue how many eggs tonight will say tomorrow.

Until Next Time.

My Birthday Boy

Our beautiful baby is 12 today.
This photo was taken in March 2011.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZACHARY
I took this photo tonight after I picked him up from his schools disco that they had tonight.
He had a great day. A sausage sizzle for lunch and party food at the disco.  ( I got out of it O.K didn't I )
He also got his very own laptop.
They are two very spoilt boys.
Grandma made him a cake today.

Our 4 chickens are now 3.
One didn't make it through the night.
We will put some more eggs in the incubator in a few weeks,.

Only 1 more sleep. ( I don't think that I will do much sleeping ) I will fall asleep on the train on the way home though.
Craft and Quilt Fair  here we come !!!

I have nearly made another purse. A small one. With beads sewn on to hold the clasp. It is very tedious. Only the bead sewing though . You will find the patterns  at   www.nicolemdesign.com.au .

The girls layed 14 eggs today.

Cold Showers

Only 2 more sleeps.( Yay ) Before Mum and I go to the show in Melbourne. Can't wait.

No sewing tonight. I finished a book that I was reading.

A busy day at work with a lot of people coming in.

This morning I had a freezing cold shower that lasted all of 30 seconds. I should of known better as Jacob was only in the bathroom for about 2 minutes.  DH called the plumber and left a message and yes we still have cold water tonight.
DH will be on the phone first thing in the morning.
I will have to use Grandma's shower tomorrow.

We have 4 new arrivals that is all. The other eggs didn't have anything in them.

The girls layed 11 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

Our Baby

 Our baby no. 1.
Another has hatched since and one more is starting to peck.
Hopefully by morning there will be some more.

DH hung the door on the glasshouse today. He is getting a bit clever.

This is the whole west side with the planting area. DH was burning some garden waste and rubbish when I got home and there were some really nice coals we could have had potato's in their skins  ( yum ) but Mum and Bruce came over for tea for the boys birthdays. Yummy roast chook and to many vegetables I don't think we need feeding for a week.

This is the little chicken coop DH has made for the baby's when they are big enough to go outside as they don't have a mother hen to look after them as we have hatched them in our incubator.
DH is going to make a door for the enclosed part so we can get access to them and another door on the end as it doesn't have wire.
It will go down in the big chicken yard so they will be used to the others.

Cutting and folding at work today.

No sewing at home tonight.

It is freezing outside now, and we had a really good frost this morning as well.
We will have another in the morning too.

The girls layed 11 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

Celebrating

These were the tools of today.
I needed them to finish the purse.
This is as far as I got yesterday.
Now it has it's clasp. It was a little bit tricky. I don't think I put enough glue in the first side or the glue took to long to dry. My stitches show a little on the corners.
The best bit was bashing it with the hammer.
It looks rather nice . I did fussy cut the outer purse fabric ( Art Gallery..... Dreaming In French ) and the lining is from the same range.

Some new flannels arrived at work yesterday . Pretty ones ( Winter Palace ) and some more  ( Winter Woolies ). They go with the other's Natalie.....

DH sent me this photo today when he had finished the shelving in the glasshouse. And he has nearly got the door ready as well.

We also have a new arrival ...... one baby chicken so far ( hope there are more ) fingers crossed.

Tonight we went out for tea to the club to celebrate Jacob's ,  Zachary's and Brooke's Birthday's.
Brooke has already turned 11 last Wednesday, Zac is still 11 until Friday and Jacob was 14 yesterday.
So we had cousins , parents , grandparents , aunties and uncles for our anual Birthday Dinner.
My boys don't look anything alike. My baby is his dad allover and Jacob is like me.

I may get to sew tomorrow night who knows.

The girls layed 14 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

My Birthday Boy

Today , 14 years ago we welcomed our first born at 4.48 pm. It was on a Friday. I just can't believe how fast time goes by. I took this photo this morning as he was opening his present, his very own laptop. And he has actually asked to get his hair cut ( I dont know how he can see through it )
HAPPY  14TH  BIRTHDAY JACOB.

Today at work I have been making a purse , the type that have those clasps. I will take a photo tomorrow. I had to get some glue tonight for it, so I will finish it tomorrow. It is quite interesting to make ( haven't made one before ) and not as hard as I thought.

Zachary started Guitar lessons tonight as well as doing his drum lesson.
As he is going to have an operation some time this year ( we hope ) he won't be able to do drums for a while with his leg and he wanted to learn Guitar so he will still be able to do his music.

Yellow and Blue

Well...... all of the blocks are together. There is something about blue and yellow, don't you think?

And it's finished except the snipping. I think I will just admire it for a few days before I put my hands through that. LOL

I have finished the binding tonight while watching T.V.
Now I just have to pack them up and send them on a little trip across the ocean to their new owners.
Baby Matthew was born on the 13th and he is so  beautiful.

And this is Jacobs Birthday Cake. I made it after tea tonight. It is a Chocolate Fudge Cake ( very moist ) with Chocolate Butter Icing.
I have had a busy day. Mum came over and put a colour in my hair just before lunch ( I just can't let the grey take over just yet ) maybe when I'm 50 but not 40.
Did some washing and got it dry and off the line before it rained.
Mum finished a couple more of her logcabin blocks , while I finished the raggy quilt.

And I will leave you with this gorgeous Camellia bloom that Mum picked off of her plant and gave to Grandma.

The girls layed 13 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

Go Blues !

This is on my design wall.
I have sewn some of it together today and I will finish it tomorrow.
The very dark blue in the pieced blocks will be the border.
Tonight I have been sewing the binding of the baby quilt while watching the BLUES win against those red and blacks ( sorry Kylie ) What a good win though ( I really am sorry ) LOL.

Look what we got out of one of our Strawberry patches.

This is half of a 3 litre milk container nearly full of snails ( the chickens did like them though )

Zac played footy today and they won. And Jacob spent most of the day down at the oval with his friends. The oval is only about 150 metres away from our house which is good.
Zachary's friend Shane is staying over here tonight. We always seem to have one friend or another stay quite often.
Only 2 days to Jacob's Birthday.

What a beautiful day !
It feels like Spring.
DH planted some things in our seed trays on his new shelves in the glasshouse.
Hopefully they will grow and we can plant them out and have early Tomatoes, cucumber, squash and zucchini.
And all of the glass is up.  DH has only to finish the rest of the shelves.

The girls layed 10 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

Winter Blooms

I managed to quilt the blocks this afternoon so only the assembly and snipping to do.
The fabrics aren't as bright as they have shown up.

I have started sewing the binding on the baby quilt  I'm making.

These are very small double white Daffodils that have started to bloom.

I am not to sure if these are Daffodils or Jonquils but they are beautiful regardless.

I took Grandma to Swan Hill this morning to do some shopping. She sure did get her exersize today . We were gone for over 4 hours so she will sleep well.

Zachary has gone to his friends house for a sleep over so it is just Jacob and me tonight as DH is at work.

The girls layed 12 eggs.

Until Next Time.

It's Stuffed

I  have finished  stuffing the hexie caddy pincushion ( which wasn't very easy ) and I am not to happy with my stuffing effort. Maybe I will make another one.
Do you notice that I have colour cordinated the pins. ( I love pink ) My friends think I'm mad but I can't help myself.
See it is just right for my can of pepsi max.

I know ,I know I said I wasn't going to make another raggy quilt but DH's friend that went through the Academy with him , he and his wife have just had a baby and I decided to make the baby a cuddly quilt. It is going to be 5x6 blocks. There are 3 shades of blue and 2 yellow with a different blue on the back.

I have made 1 nine patch and 4 strippy ones with one more to do. The darker blue is the border and the other 4 will be plain blocks in the quilt.

The nine patch before quilting. I will do some more tomorrow afternoon when we get back from shopping.
An update on Mum's logcabin blocks. After a little set back there are only 7 to make.

And I can't believe she let me take her picture , but here she is sewing her blocks.
That jumbled mess in the foreground are her strips.
And my Janome 16 Stitch machine that I bought when I was 17. My dear old machine is 23 years old and I make most of my quilts on it. And I do all my quilting on it too.

The girls layed 14 eggs today.

Until Next Time.

Relaxing

Just a quick hello today.
Had a very busy day at work.  Sue and I finished a new flannel quilt , she did some and I did some. It is going to Melbourne for the show.

No sewing at home tonight.  I have been relaxing with a book something I haven't done for a while .

My washing machine is home and fixed ( a bobby pin was in the motor  MY FAULT ) Maybe I should cut my hair.
And I  WILL check every pocket in future.

Happy 11th  Birthday  Brooke  ( our niece ) and she got a horse . WOW.

The girls layed another 15 eggs today. OMG !!! I will have to start selling them.

No. 34

 No. 34 is done !
Only 65 to go.

The 10 sided quilt I have been doing at work.  It looks a bit like Christmas.

And this is the one the boss did . It is done using Jinny Beyer fabrics ( It glows doesn't it )

And please excuse the mud and dirt on the carpet mat but it has been raining and I have boys that don't take off their shoes when they have been outside ( grrrrrr... )
This is a picture that greets us every morning. They want their breakfast and also to come inside where it is warm.

Grandma has been helping me out  with washing 4 loads of towels in her little washing machine as mine won't spin. It was making such a horrible noise I turned it off. I'm just glad that all the water had drained out first. I hope it's fixed soon and that  nothing is to wrong with it because we really can't afford a new one.

The girls layed 15 eggs today.

Until Next Time.
